Street Mod I think. I'm sure a autocross guru will bust out the rule book.

i'd also guess SM but dunno that class well. I hope your region has a street tire index class so you won't have to compete vs R comp cars.

We do have street tire classes where the times get compared based on PAX handicapped time. Either way my car is really not set up well for autocross because I have too many mods which will put me in a very high class. For now I just want to work on my driving skills and I will look into getting a car that will run in a lower class later.

Its definately SM, but their might be a new class for SM type modification with street tires next year.

I don't know how competitive your guys' regions are, but for me, there's a better chance to trophy running standard SM than in street tire index. ST is just brutal.

Here we have too many stock and SP national champions/trophy'ers, so trying for a PAX win in SM is pretty much impossible. I try and compare my raw times to SS, if you can stay ahead or with those guys then youre doing pretty good.

Definately SM, or atleast if you come up to Flag that's the class I'll put you in ; )

I'm running SM on street tires as well, and you take a hefty hit as the SM pax is based on race tires. However it is a great way to start. Forget about what class you get "stuck" in and all the knobs you can turn on the car. Get those fast AZSolo boys to ride with you and *listen* to how the nut behind the wheel needs to adjust.

I'd highly recommend the Solo race schools as well - I'd go as far as telling you to sell aftermarket parts off your car (and throw the stockers back on) to fund the class...

Thanks for the response, SM it is. I joined SCCA and AZSolo yesterday and I did the driving school on the 5th and the event on the 6th. Between the two days I got 22 runs total :) Both were a lot of fun and I can't wait until the next event. As I mentioned before I know with my mods I will need to run crazy fast times to be competitive but for now I just want to learn.

That's the spirit. Locally, we have a novice class that you can run regardless of setup, and you can stay classed there until you trophy. Only one trophy is handed out each event, that being to the winner. And god knows there's always someone faster than a lightly modded DSM, so I'm still there.

Hopefully that'll change this season, I'm hoping to finish my setup over the winter and get on some premium rubber.
