Help with knocking...................!

Alright i was driving and it started like ticking/knocking and we think its the rods or connecting rods or something, what do you guys think, how much would this cost to get fixed?

How loud, does it get more rapid with RPM's or is it constant?

Yeah as the rpms goes up it get more notacible.

How old is the car (miles)? How hard has it been beaten on (how much boost with what turbo and fuel system)? Do you run good premium gas? If its a well taken care of car your probably just getting the notorious lifter tick.

Running about 16-17 boost, stock turbo, 93 octane and its a 95 with 125K on it, but with a rebuild not sure jsut got it about a week ago. You think he sold me a lemon, if so what should i do?

Get a stethascope or something like that and put it on the oilpan while it's running and see if you can hear the knocking in the oil pan. That will let you know if it's rod/main bearings. Also check your oil for metal shavings. You can get them at a parts store for like 15 bucks. They look just like the one's the docters use. I would do that first. Because if you let it go any longer it could eat your crank as well. Also are you sure it just isn't a CV joint or something. Check to make sure the boots aren't torn at all.

If its the lifter tick what could i do to fix it?, but im pretty sure its the rods and stuff. not sure if its a cv joint or anythngi. I dont know that much about the car, how would i check that?

If the motor knocks when just sitting then it is not a cv joint.if it is the rods then you will have to pull the motor and get a re-ring kit.If you got a lemon ther is not much you can do because "all sales are final".all you can do is bend over and take it...wish I had better news for you.

Don't jump to conclusions, my car had some issues when I first got it that I completely blew out of proportion. There's no such thing as a 125K "lemon" its just an old car. Mine supposedly had a rebuild too, I may never know if that's true or not.

As for the sound. Are you SURE it rod knock? That isn't something that comes out of nowhere and its usually worst at idle, not while crusing down the highway, in fact it usually goes away with increased rpm. Lifter tick on these cars can be so loud and heavy some people think its lower engine noise. How's the oil level and condition? Lack of oil will make the lifters tick like nothing you've ever heard.

It has oil. It dosent really do it at idel at all. It only does it at certain thottle points and in certain gears. I dont know its goin to mechanic monday. I hope i have the money to get it diognosed.

It did have low oil and we added a quart and its full and it still does it.

Ok, my engine blew up today oil pressure dropped. So i pulled off to the side of the road. I am glad i did't try and drive it home or else it might not even be running or salvagble. I had it towed to the mitsu dealer i am having it rebuilt. I called the last owner and said "why did my engine blow up i have only driven 300 miles on it and you said the engine was rebuilt" to which he replied " you were driving it to hard and only the gaskets were replaced" Great. So now it is just chillin at the Mitsu Dealer. I hope they can order me the parts i want (eagle rods). I just wanted to ask u guys what yall think about my parts list...complete?
