I am 90% sure I am going to install the 3g lifters just because I have read the post here about stopping the infamous 4g63 ticking noise, done it all and it still ticks and the knock sensor is still picking it up. I went to Vfaqs site and read up on installing new lifters. Is there any other things I should know about installing new lifters such as how long is it going to take? and once I get the old ones out is it going to be a pain to get the new ones back in? any do's and donts thats sort of thing any special prayers I should be saying :p

Thanks

wow no one has done the lifters them selfs it seems easy enough when they show it on Vfaq??

i did mine with the cams out. but if ur cams are still in, loosen the cam cap bolts and just pop the roller rockers off with a screwdriver. make sure u put assemply lube on the tips of the lifters before u put the roller rockers back on.

DONE I finally got to doing my 3g lifter mod. It took some time but once the first roller rocker comes off its all down hill from there. I did it with the cams in I would do the one's I could get to basicly the one where the cam lobs wernt compressed on. Then turn the motor using two 17mm wrenchs clockwise to get to the rest. It took about 5 hours time I soaked the lifters and and roller rockers in motor oil for a little bit. Then installed them then re oiled the lifters again once seated. Pulled the MPI fuse primed the oil pump and let the engine run for about 15 mins and no more ticking lifters.

I dont think it is your lifters if you still get the ticking. I still had a little tick every now and then I fixed it right up with some lucus oil stabilizer and lucus fuel system treatment sounds like you valves are ticking, could be caused by carbon build up.

I used some seafoam.....and helped a little, but the Nascar Select oil filter has pretty much cleared it up.

My Talon sounded like a loud sewing machine after cold start up.

I removed and cleaned the lifters, switched to Mobil1, and a Napa Gold filter. I still have slight tick in the first 10 seconds after cold start up. I guess this is normal. Oil needs to circulate before reaching the lifters.

I'm not even doing the DO NOT BUMP or SEARCH. I'm just closing it.

God the way we all talk about the same thing all the time, we may as well be married.

Look around before asking. Again.
