ok. first off i dont want to hear "just get a 2.0" cause if i wanted to do thatm, i would. :nono: the 1.8 is a motor with so much more potential than most people realise. :hellyeah:

this being said, i have gotten my hands on a set of headers off of a dodge colt to fit my 1993 1.8 and make it a turbo. :thumb: now i need to know exactly what parts i need to get everything set up. :hmm: all im planning on pushing is 4-5lbs of boost

so far i have:
turbo (what kind, will a stock eclipse turbo work???)
turbo downpipe
boost controller
oil feed and return lines
blowoff valve
intercooler & piping
turbo timer
boost gauge
turbo intake pipe

Anything else???

Fuel upgrades, way to control the fuel, if the manifold is setup with the mitsu flange then yes a stock turbo will work. If you get the 14b you will need the jpipe, same goes for the 16g if you want to go that big.

Youre going to need some type of tuning device (SAFC), try to get your hands on a 14b before you go the t25 route, not a have too but if you have the funds might as well throw an exhaust on there to free up the air flow, you dont have to have a turbo timer (I dont know how much you plan on spending on it, but you should use that money towards other things) IMO.

Might as well get a walbro 190 atleast or a walbro 255 because I doubt youll wanna keep the boost at 4-5lbs. Injectors, and its also a good idea to get an afpr.

im going to be putting boost in a motor that wasnt designed for it. its my daily driver, and id like to keep it on the road, so the most that im thinking i can safely push is 4-5lbs on stock internals.

No offense, but if your going to boost a N/T at 4-5 psi your just wasting your money. Save up and get a turbo car or save up and build the N/T right and turbo it then. Cheap, Fast, Reliable..pick two.

I agree with 4 or 5 psi is not going to net the worth of the project. Maybe look to build the engine if your gung ho on this 1.8 project. Then you could boost 15 to 20 pounds and really enjoy the fruits of your labor.

He'll most likely pick up a good chunk of power. I don't want to bench race but a solid 35hp+ is not out of the question. It depends on how much money he plans on putting into this and how much of any of the fab work needed he can do himself. I personally would only probably bother if it was very south of a $1k

As for the project. I'd try to stick with as many stock 1g turbo parts as possible.
Intercooler, fuel pump, bov and intercooler pipes should work with little modding.
As far as turbo, it depends on what the manifold is flanged for. If its flanged for t3, then you can most likely run an adapter plate and then run any mitsu flanged turbo. Id suggest sticking with something smaller like the t25 or 14b as they will be more efficient for your lower hp setup.
As far as tuning, I'd do some searching as there are a lot of options from a FMU, SAFC, MAFT GEN2(should work), and even Megasquirt.
