Ok so since today my car has been running like crap. It runs ok then when it idles for a little and you go to take off it barely wants to go, bogs out. Just runs bad.
I was using link and noticed my front 02 voltage is off. And today I was working on the wire harness down there by the front o2 connetor(putting on a new tab for the water temp switch).

And I saw this wire that was just not connected. Its a bare wire. Is it supposed to go into the front 02 plug?

Heres a pic:

The wire I am talking about is the one that is laying on the top of my thumb.

I cant tell the color of it from the picture. If i knew the color i could find the wiring diagram and do process of elimination that way. Post the color of it.

The wire is bare. That is how it was when I took off the protective plastic sleeve that was covering all five wires. Yeah I never found a wire in the harness that was just bare.

I would suggest tracing it back to where i goes. That is pretty odd. I never noticed anything like that in my gf's 2g and ive built it 2x LOL. Maybe its some sort of ground?

Ok. I will have to do this. If this wire is supposed to go into the O2 plug and its not connected would it cause my car to run like S**T. It has ran great for the past week, then all of a sudden it runs bad. Barely wants to idle. Stutters and carries on, Has absolutely no power, my wideband is reading extremely lean when it does this. It does eventually snap out of it and run fine. I am so lost with it anymore.

My gf's 2g did that same problem. unfortunately we blew it up before i was able to diagnose it.. LOL. 1 rod...3 holes.. Anyways ill go check the wiring on her car tomorrow and see if that stray wire is in there for you.

hope this will help. get a ecu pin out diagram that tells you what wires go to what and the color, thickness. (somewhere on this site just do a search) use a multi meter and on one of the prongs wrap a paperclip around it and leave a little to poke the ecu harness conectors to find the right pin until it displays the volts of the battery. but if its ground then it would work in multiple pinholes that are ground, then you have to find where the wire broke off from.:notgood:

If it's running to your front O2 sensor and stripped/unplugged. Your air fuel ratio will be off. Thus cruddy running car.

And ouch on the GF's car. Detonation? O2 sensor making car run to lean and BOOOM?

I'd get it fixed soon. That's not something you'll want to let slide and ride.

Here's what should be in the front o2 sensor plug and how the plug looks.

If you're missing a wire in that plug, the front o2 sensor won't be working, thus your ECU will not know how to adjust the fuel to get a proper air/fuel ratio. Your car will run like complete crap.

If you don't think it's the front o2 wire, you can look through the rest of this document and try to match it up.

Another easy way to test the wire is to test the resistance across the wire. Here is the 2g ECU pinout.
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-tuning-ecu/281763-2g-turbo-ecu-pinout-w-wire-colors.html

So you would put your multimeter on Ohms (Ω) and put one lead on the bare end of the wire and the other on pin 76 at the ECU plug (since it looks like it might be the white wire that is broken).
