Not only was I billed more than what I was told, but I go in to pick up my hubs and they destroyed the dust shields on both. Both of them move around and easily rub up against the wheel.

I'm so f-ing annoyed right now and don't know what to do :mad::mad:

I just called back and they said "there is nothing we can do about that, but you can bring them back tomorrow and we can take a look." WTF? The guy put them in my trunk, I looked at the bearings to make sure they were ok, but didn't notice until after I got home.

On top of it, they TOSSED my old parts that I specifically requested not to. Now instead of repairing the axle/cv joint I have to buy a whole new one.

I'm so pissed right now, I don't know what to do... Here is a video of what they are doing:

Suggestions?

Sounds like you need to find a non shady mechanic..You were charged more than what you were quoted.Theythrew out the stuff you told them not to..They screwed up the dust sheilds..I would be taking to another mechanic and getting the first shop to pay for the repairs..which probably wont happen..Next time start doing some of your own work..It will save you tons of money in the future..

Dust shields get bent, just part of the job. As for throwing away the parts that's bs :/. Why did the charges change? Broken bolts or what?

Id like to keep parts on my car that are supposed to be there, i.e. the dust shields. I'm guessing I'll have to cut these off and buy new ones huh :banghead:

When I was picking them up, I asked where is the end of the axle and the guy says "its not here, must of been thrown out." He called and left a message for the mechanic that worked on it, but he said chances are its gone now. EVEN though its on the paperwork to save parts.

I needed to get the bearing pressed out. Ive been trying for some time, but need a heavy duty press to do it. I looked around and took them to a big shop, not some little corner store.

Looks like I'll be calling my credit card company in a few days...

If it's on the paperwork that you have then you have a legitimate gripe as far as the axels. As for the dust shield, there is no way to get them off a car without bending them some. If you think it can be done then good luck :).

Ceramic brake pads help with dust on the wheels..And also help with braking a great deal..But they do cause warped rotors much faster than traditional pads because of the excessive heat..

I dont mind about bending the shields, thats just part of the process, but completely breaking them to where they are now useless, especially the one that looks like it was cut off and then put back in is another story.

Should I bother getting new ones (Ive read a few posts going either way) or just cut them off and call it a lesson learned?

I didn't realize they were cut man, that's my bad. I'd replace them then and hopefully you used an AMEX card.

No worries, I didn't make it clear but they total botched both of them to where they are of no use.

Of course, I will not go into places if they dont take Amex :thumb:

you should go in there and raise hell bro ... demand that the purchase/replace the parts you specifically asked them to save and they carelessly threw away. I would be LIVID and rasing HE!! in the lobby in front of all the other customers. Someone else said to learn how to do it urself ... and I couldn't agree more! this is exactly why I became a mechanic.... I love my car too much to have some jack off mess my stuff up then charge me a rediculous amount
