hey i just bought a 1g awd turbo talon. I know for a fact that the intake gaskets need to be changed out. Heres whats going on....the first few days i had it the idle bounced around alot, but i figured that was from the intake gaskets, but after it warmed up it stopped bouncing. Ever since then things have gradually gotten worse....the idle drops extremely low and the car dies when slowing down in neutral, or for any gear for that matter....When i give it anymore then half-throttle the check engine light comes on and the car loses power and seams to stutter, but still accelerates, and also emits big puffs of smoke from the exhaust. The turbo sounded normal the first few days, now its louder, but still boosting at the same psi (according to the stock guage)....maybe bearings? i dunno any help would be greatly appreciated..thanks EDIT: There seemed like there was trapped air in the gas tank too...when i unscrewed the gas cap it sounded like i was opening a bottle of cream soda.

I'm guessing that you're a new driver. Cars do that, its normal, don't worry bout it.

Yeah man, it sounds that you have a big boost leak somewhere.
Check every intake pipe but best way is build a boost leak tester. www.vfaq.com show you how to build one.

I had a similar problem and somehow it ended up being my MAF was going bad and it was messing everything up. I was trying everything b/c sometimes it wanted to work but usuall didn't. Try and get one off a friends and see if a differant MAF helps.....its a thought to add to the boost leak test as mentioned above.

You mentioned that the check engine light came on, so, in addition to performing a boost leak test, I would borrow a scan tool and see what engine fault codes were stored. This would help you to diagnose the problem.

haha wellllll i found out what was wrong....i popped the hood for a boost leak check and before i even got to the first intake pipe i noticed a valve screw laying in a wire harness. Turned out it somehow got loose, popped off, and was sucking in air. Thanks for the helpful advice
