Its finally nice out now and I have been using my top of my 99 spyder all week, yesterday i go to hit the button and nothing.

The windows go down but the top wont move!! I hear just a very faint electric noise but hardly anything.

I have searched these threads but I cant find the same problem. Do you think both electric motors burned out?

Does anyone know how much this will cost me to get fixed? Do I need to goto the dealership?

I'm tight on money and I cant afford thousands of $$

OMG I called the dealer and told the problem to him and he said it would need new motor, around $2600 with installation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the link...

So if one day it works fine, next day nothing when i hit the button you think its the pins? That would be amazing if so.

I am not mechanically inclinded, would a repair place be able to do this?

Your problem sounds like typical broken pins. Anyone with basic mechanical skills should replace them in less than an hour.

Or I could do it for you for half of the dealer cost and pay my own airfair and hotel. :D

ahh, where are the Top fuses located?? When i hit the button the windows go down, but the top does nothing at all.........

By the left foot dead pedal. If you can hear the motors turning, then they still have power. You may even see a slight movement of the roof.

Alright now i need some help!!!

This weekend I took apart the whole thing and followed the directions about replacing the pins. We got the left side out and off and pounded out the pin and it was whole. We got the right side out and the pin was broken at the end. We replaced it with a nail of similiar thickness. We put everything back together but could not get the spacers back in that hold the motor in place. So we found some PVC pipe that was a little thincker and easier to get the screw inside and that seemed to work. Tried the system and it still did not work.

What I noticed is the only sound i am getting is from that center box behind the back seat. It clicks pretty loud when i push the top button. The motors dont do anything. I checked the fuse under the hood and it was fine. I didnt check the other one yet. Didnt know there was a top fuse by the foot pedal.

It appears to be some sort of module problem. I am not sure what is in that box. Should i take it into the dealership? what should i do next??

Thanks!!!!
