Help me w/datalogger and knock

I'll try to explain it as best as i can. I have a 90 GST. here are the mods that i currently have. Evo3b16g,3" downpipe, straight pipe and 3"catback,s-afc2,650cc injectors,2g ported o2 housing, and i just currently got a datalogger. My problem is i was watching my logger keeping an eye on knock and i noticed i get a lot of knock when i start accelerating from a stop, and im not even jumping on it. but as soon as i gas it the knock goes away. another problem i have is sometimes ill notice when i push the gas the boost gauge will go up but the car will seem very sluggish, like its pulling a lot of timing, and ill look at the logger and it will show very high knock counts, i saw up to 43! I dont know why this is happening but it happens every so often. Im pretty much in the dark with logging and the s-afc2. Im not really sure where to set the hi and lo throttle numbers on the afc right now. Sorry for the long thread but i really need some light shined on this. Thanks.

Well i can tell you that the reason you don't pull under boost when you have knock is because the ecu pulls timing to try to protect the engine from damage. My best advice would be to take your car to someone who knows how to tune and get your afc tuned as soon as possible. Running your car out of tune can end in disaster. I am not very familiar with using an afc myself and i can't comment on your 43 counts of knock when starting to get on the throttle without speculating so i won't. Get your car tuned and go from there.

One more thing. You do have a REAL boost gauge right?

Thanks for all the replies. I did a few searches earlier on it but i think i was typing in the wrong words. But i did a few more and i came across "phantom knock" and how everybody was getting around 43 counts of knock on partial throttle. I seem to be having the same problem. I read another guy thought it was his EGR valve causing it. I agree that I need to take it to somebody to get it tuned correctly. That is something im definitely gonna do so hopefully i can learn from them what to do. Thanks for the help.

I've had a nasty case of phantom knock myself so the thought had crossed my mind. Before you just go assuming it's a false problem start eliminating the possibilities of it being a real problem. Better safe than sorry.
