OK, basically, I blew the engine in my GSX a while back, finally got around to working on it around...August or so. Well, we bought a block, 4g64 crank, all the stroking business...everything you should buy to do an overhaul. Well, I have a 6-bolt block (three seperate retainers for the crank) so naturally I bought a 6-bolt front cover, didn't fit. Called SBR and they told me about a few queer 6-bolt blocks that used the 7-bolt front cover, ordered one, didn't fit. Now I am like what the hell, I have everything to have a brand new car except a functioning front cover. New EVERYTHING. I have been waiting on my car since April, all the while having to drive my mom's Grand Prix...if this thing doesn't come around soon, I am going to pull my hair out, part the car out and buy a Suzuki GSXr750 or something of the likes because I am near to blowing the miserable sight up with a few 100lbs of TNT :barf: . OK, whew, I feel better now. Anyways, the alignment pins on the 7-bolt front cover lined up, just the holes that the bolts go through to the block, some were matched, some were off by up to a 1/4", and some went to blank block. I'm wondering if it was just shitty quality manufacturing from TopLine and I should buy an OEM front cover or is there something else... BTW, my rotating assembly, consisting of a 4g64 crank, 6-Bolt rods, and .020 over stroker pistons (for the 4g63), are all in the block and functioning as they should. Someone please help me, any answer would be nice, I just need a front cover that works for my block...I have some shitty drawn up diagram of the front cover holes and how far off they are if it would be of any help, just ask and I'll upload it. I just need some answers or even helpful suggestions. Thanks.

As far as the front cover goes, ALWAYS go OEM on parts like that. As far as the block...If you could post picture's that would be great.

Alright, I'll try and get pics up ASAP to help you guys out. As of now, I am completely dumbfounded and almost to the point of quitting fooling with DSM period. They're special cars and I love them to death, but oh the woe they can bring unto you. The day I can have the little white Eclipse back in my driveway is the day I will be truly happy :D .

OK, came to find out that it is the 6-bolt Hyundai version 4G63...can't recall the exact code at the time...but all is good at my camp now, no problems, we knew the block was N/T, just wish we had known there was some crazy front cover I needed. Slowboy fixed us up though, the front cover is on the way =)

dont the nt blocks not have some holes drilled for them? (ie hole for knock sensor, lifters maybe? i cant remember exactly) who did you buy the block from that didnt know/ didnt tell you what it was from?

my guess was going to be that it was possibly a N/T 4g63, that sucks but- owning a dsm a small problem like that shoudl make you fairly happy-

dam, this issue is coming up quite a bit now, a couple local guys have found that when pulling their motors to do a stroker, they have the hyundai block. they were suprised those motors held up to the beating they were serving(25psi on evo16g with meth injection), as they only pulled the motors cause they wanted the stroker and forged for even more boost, and had no problems with it previously.
