Hey guys, My current setup is an EVO316g 22psi, tial 38mm wastegate methanol injection, FIC 650's, Walbro 190, 272/272cams + all the supporting mods. Im currently looking heavily into spraying a 60 shot, but i want to do it the safest way possible. Ive heard of retarding the timing, and using colder plugs to help "save" the engine in the worst case scenarios. I dont know how well nitrous is going to work with my methanol injection kit so anyone who has first hand experience can you share? My question is whats the best way for me to get a kit? Would it be dry/wet? I do not want to use a WOT switch as im being fwd, traction alone is hard enough to come by. Id really prefer a dry shot (most likely be used 3rd gear) where traction is seen fully. How do you guys tune for nitrous? Educate me...Im really thinking hard into a 60 shot dry...but if theres an alternative lemme know. Any information is great.

First of all, I would go with the ZEX wet kit. The nice thing about the ZEX kit is that it has a Nitrous Management Unit (basically its own computer) that will stop the flow of nitrous if it senses a drop in fuel pressure. It does activate at WOT, but there is still an arming switch, so you can just flip the switch when you want it on, or when you know you have traction. However, you do not have to use the WOT switch--you could wire in a button I would imagine. The other nice thing about a wet kit is that it delivers the proper amount of fuel along with the nitrous, so it is a much better system.

As far as tuning goes, you should use at least 1 range colder plug, AS WELL AS retard your timing. It tells you exactly how much in the instruction manual for the kit. Off the top of my head, I think it needs to be retarded 1-2 degrees, but don't quote me on that. Also, I would consider upgrading to a 255lph fuel pump. I wouldn't say it is necessary, but its better safe than sorry. The ZEX kit is really easy to install, ans it comes with everything you need, except a bottle fill. You get multiple jet sizes, all the switches, wiring, brackets, etc. And with the Nitrous Management Unit, I feel it is one of the safest kits out there. I had one on my Stealth, and it was awesome.

As far as using it with the methanol injection, since the methanol gives you higher octane and a cooler intake charge at the same time, this would only be better with the nitrous, since nitrous is cold also, and nitrous requires higher octane (at least 92), so with the methanol, you should be plenty safe. Nitrous also has a "cleaning effect", which cleans your plugs, combustion chambers, valves, etc., so that is just another plus.

I hope this helps. :talon:

If you look at my forsale thread thats to best nitrous kit out there. To do it yourself, buy any Nitrous Express Direct Port Nitrous System. You can either sump your current tank or, add a small fuel cell like I did. Get an external fuel pump and a Carburated or EFI regualtor. I choose Carbureated because I want to have a bigger orffice for fuel to come out of to prevent clogging sence I decided not to run a fuel filter in my lines. You dont have to go as big as I did, but that 100 shot hit like a bi*** on a 20g. Pm me for more details if you want, anymore advice. Doing it this way is alot safer and easyer to tune. I also used dsmlink to bring it on an off, and it retaded timing for me as soon as it was activated. Don't do it any other way because it kills off nitrous performance alot. I run br8es anyway so I kept those plugs in. I now have a 30r that may end up getting some nitrous use from the NOS single fogger system in my room. That will however have a seperate fuel system aswell, but with an EFI regualtor.
