Ok well I recently bought a HKS 2.5" uicp for my smic and a hks throttle body elbow because I had plans of running a supra smic+water/meth but decided a fmic would probably just be best in the end and so I was wondering if there is a way I could use the uicp I bought and just find a core and licp and turbo outlet? Give me useful info too please, not negative opinions..

Og course, you just got to piece together the piping. The best way to go about this is to get and mount the FMIC first so that way you can visualize how long the straight piping needs to be and the angles that will make it work.

+1 this is very doable. Basically your intended front mount will be running what's known as "long route piping" which basically means that the piping runs through the stock SMIC location. A lot of kits used to run this but many today use short route piping, which runs directly from the FMIC end tank to the throttle body. I would find a core that fits your needs and then take it from there, as said above. The best cores are made by Garrett and Spearco but many people have had success running cheaper eBay brand name cores. However, since you're doing your own work in creating the piping it leaves your options open and you may be able to snag a great core for a good price if you keep your eyes open, just remember that you want bar and plate, not tube and fin. Finally, whatever you do for piping bear in mind that you really want to have the ends of your intercooler pipes beaded and secured with t-bolt clamps. Trust me, these two small things add a bit to the cost of the end product but will do a world of good in helping to lower incidences of boost leaks and blowing off IC piping. Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

Well how long do you plan on staying with the 14b? If you have no plans to upgrade it it makes more sense to use a smaller core, as it will be able to cool the intake charge without sacrificing too much flow to the radiator. If you plan on going with a larger setup in the near future, you'd probably want a larger core. Also, are you still planning on using meth?

The biggest turbo I would ever be running in the next 3 years is a FP68HTA, but I'll soon be upgrading to a B16G and that is what I'll be running for awhile. I do plan on running cams, a safc or source lite we'll see and switching to a ebc and installing a wbo2 etc etc.
