Help.. im about to buy a DSM that might be troubled.

Hello all,

There is a 1992 Tsi AWD for sale in my area. The guy sais he needs to warm it up for 10 minutes before it 'runs properly' (he claims its not it top running order). Two people went to see it and claim it might be the mass airflow sensor or the fuel injectors. They did compression testing and the results were 130-130-124-124. Its going for 1000 canadian (can probably negotiate it down to 600 to 800.

I am a beginner with cars. I know basics and a little about dsms (what ive learned from reading there boards). Im quite poor so I need a definite answer on weather or not its worth buying.

is it recirculated? check the BISS? isc? boost leak? could be one of those too

Well, those compression numbers are pretty low so you might be looking at a rebuild as well. I wouldn't, but that's just me.

dude, he's not gonna know what those are most likely. Anyways, get a friend to come check it out, but honestly unless this is the only DSM that's ever appeared canada just keep your eyes plealed for something else. DSM's are already trouble makers as it is and you dont' wanna start of on a bad note

You want to have a car where you have to wait at least....oh....1 week before you start fixing stuff.

Hmm.. i guess... I havent got a big budget though... one without troubles will most likely be over 3 grand..
