Has anyone got a pic of a 6-bolt that perhaps they took during a rebuild of the pulley end with the plastic covers removed? I have a 6-bolt with some parts removed and need to know how to correctly assemble it. Can someone elp with this? Thanks so much in advance, Mark

Thanks for the pics guys. The detailed one is more than I thought I could get. Does the crankshaft sprocket remove or is it part of the crank? Since I will be going without balance shafts I will not need those gears. I had removed the tensioner pulley and tming belt tensioner. I need to remove the entire cover and want to have a pic for the mechanic to have as a reference. that is great! Thanks for the quick responses guys.
I may go with a buschur stage 3 and he wants the cover off. thanks again. that pic wth descriptions is great. Mark

1.The gears come off..

2. the BS gear on the crank needs to go back on even just as a spacer.

3. The thin plate goes ontop of that and has the timing mark on it.

4. Then the crank TB gear goes on.

So I can remove everything that is boted to the cover. Are the gears on the crank 2 separate gears? How to remove them without the crank turning? hold from the flyweel end with acouple of bolts put back into the crank and use a bar to hold it? thanks so much. i need to get the cover off and send the block to Buschur and then have my mechanicget it back together. You have been a BIG help! Mark

From the labeled pic I see 1 blance shaft gear. What drives the other shaft and where on that pic is it? Thanks for helping a new engine guy. Mark

On the other side of the iol pump sprocket, is a gear that turns the seconds bs gear. In my first pic, you can see the plug right above the sprocket. Behind that plug the the bs gear.

In the labeled pic I see the oil pump sprocket but cannot locate the other BS gear nor what drives it. Is it driven by a gear behind the cover/oil pump sprocket? I am at a loss as to what drives the 2nd BS. The oil pumpsprocket drives the oil pump?
i have all gears, bolts pulleys and oil pan bolts removed but the front cover is being held up in the area of the oil pump sprocket. What did i miss? Mark

OK. i went to the garage and saw the plug you are taling about. Seems the oil pump drives the 2nd BS. Now what is holding up the removal of the cover in the area of the pil pump sprocket? Thanks, Mark

I don't understand what you are asking. Do you mean the whole oil pump housing? Just the little plug? You have to pull the oil pump casing off to get the b/s out. It actually pulls out with it.

I want to remove the entire front cover. the aluminum front housing so I guess I just need to rock it some if the balance shaft on that side is going to come out with the cover, yes? I have removed the gears, idlers, bolts and pulleys, crank gear, etc. Even the 4 oil pan bots that hold the pan to the cover. SO, just pull and rock it at the same time? Mark

The front case (oil pump housing) should be one there VERY well. Make sure you have it bare, with no screws holding it on, no crank sproket, basically remove everything holding it on. I took my oil pan completely off.. made it easier. Then find a good spot to pry with a flat head srewdriver and it'll pop off. The balance shaft is connected to it. Is the engine in your car? If it is, I don't know if you'll be able to get the b/s out, maybe you can, all I know is that when the engine is in the car, one of the two balance shafter are VERY VERY hard to get out.

There is nothing holding the cover on. i can slide a screw driver under the cover at any spot. In fact it is pulled away from the block all around the cover. It's just being held back by the balance shaft by the oil pump sprocket. I'm just afraid to pull too hard even though i am going to replace the cover and pump gears. I'll just pull harder and rock it a bit and hope it pops off! Definitly the area of the ol sprocket that is holding it on. Mark

YEP! It's on a palet in the garage with all hardware removed. I'll try again in the morning. Sack time again. mark

Removed the oil pan. The oil pump pick-up was attached to the front cover!! Now I am confused as to where the oil pump is and why Buschur charges $300. for a new cover which I need with oil pump gears? I can find the pump but need advice on the new gears for the pump. Mark

I removed the oil pan, then the 2 bolts holding the pickup to the cover and then the cover came right off.
i believe SBR sells the cover without the oil pump gears. Is the oil pump simply the gears encased on the backside of the cover and the pickup??!!! Boy I feel like a new pump would be a good idea but if it is only a set of gears, well I am surprised and confused. I did rack a small corner of the front cover but do not believe anything functional was compromised. i need help wth this one. I was expecting much more for a pump. Now I need to make another decision. I was quoted $150. to install the gears and idlers and other parts I removed from the cover. Sounds high. I did not take heed of all of the locatins but the pic shows things quite clearly. Thoughts?

the top line front cover that SBR sells comes with the housing as well as the gears. Putting everything back together is pretty easy. I dtore it down and put it back together with no experience. The hardest part wasgetting the timing belt tensioned right, and all the timing marks lined up.
