SO I've looked over and over that I even purchase one of those kynar u.s. plastic check valves with a new oem pcv and put it on the car. I redid a BLT and notice that the valve cover breather nipple was still leaking some air out. I fixed some leaks on the car and I can pressurize the system to 20 but doesnt hold for long. I even blocked off the pcv hose coming from the IM and I can still feel little bit of air coming out of the valve cover breather hole. This was done on a cold engine just an hour ago once I woke up. The engine is rebuilt with stock internals (new rings and bearing) and a rebuilt head. It barely has 1200 miles on it. I read that its best to perform the test from the ic pipes since good turbo seals can still leak and good piston/valve stem seals as well. It shows no signs of smoke anywhere in the car. The engine sounds healthy. ( Only issue I have is boost creep, got a wastegate on the way for the lil 16g) Is it normal for the car to do this? I checked out jafro's channel where he does a blt and that thing holds boost for ever.

You need to do the BLT with the engine warm, and make sure that all of the valves are completely closed.

Don't do this. If you know you are leaking air into the crankcase, all you are doing when you block off the vent is pressurizing your crankcase WAY above what it would normally see, which isn't good for the seals... not to mention you could build enough pressure to create a small oil geyser from your dipstick.

*****

Have you done a compression and leak-down test since the engine break-in? Wouldn't hurt, just to make sure the rings seated properly.

So now I see what I did wrong. Tomorrow I will do a blt after i stop at the gas station to add gas since im on empty. hopefully on my way back it is warm and ready to have a test redone.

I will also do a compression just to see where the motor is at right now.:thumb:

Ok so I did it with warm engine but not at tdc and air will come out the breather hose a little bit. I mean I can pressurize the system to 20 but slowly goes down. is this something to worry about really bad? Car pulls with stock boost.

Anyone?
