Ok I'm in the middle of changing my timing belt, water pump, & removing the balance shafts. I did the most noobist thing by not cracking the crank sprocket whilte the belt was in and I'm stuck right now. I've been told a spanner wrench will help me but nobody has the correct application. So, how can I remove the crank sprocket with the situation I'm in right now? There must be another way without disruping the timing. I need to access the oil pump cover to get the balance shafts out. HELP! '97 GS-T.

well if you are taking out the balance shafts you have to remove the front case so all the timing has to come off.....to remove the crank pully just simply get a 3 jaw puller and it should slide right off.
(appologies if I am off on what you were asking)

The removal of crank sprocket is not required for a 7 bolt. Right out of vfaq.

NOTE: Due to the redesign of the oilpump case for the 7bolt motors, removal of the crank sprocket is NOT necessary on them to remove the balance shaft belt. The oilpump case was redesigned with a dropdown, and the belt can be removed from around the balance shaft belt backplate without removal of the crankshaft sprocket and backplate.

My bad, I didn't see the part about balance shafts. I'm not familiar with shaft removal procedure and my above posts is for the belt only.

My neighbor ran a hose over w/air gun and we got the bolt out of the crank sprocket...I'm talking about removing the balance shafts (incorporating the stubby shaft, block-off bearing, & front plug)...Thanks for the help guys...i'm taking a break...it's a lot of work.

Alright, Im confused now. Are you talking about the castle plug in the front cover that blocks the bolt to the rear bs? Your reply seems to make no sense at all considering you dont need to remove any dowel pin from the crank sproket.
