Im having trouble with my cooling system, Im trying to figure out where the leak is coming from. I have 2 leaking areas, ,first is on lower part of the radiator. And i tried to replace my lower radiator hose to eliminate it but it didnt make any difference,, it seems to be leaking from the drain plug or somwhere close to it. The other leak is just right above the oil filter housing and i cant see to see where exactly. It also only leaks after the engine shuts of or sometime during idle after driving it to and from work. Here is the video below. I would appre iate any input.

you have to take it all apart soon after it shuts down. so you can see all the lines. i had to do it just start pulling apart . takes like 3-5 min.

Yeah and the bad part is, the spot above your oil pump that is leaking might be a little fun. That is where the coolant actually cools the engine there is a pipe or hose running through the center of the engine that can start to leak over time. This is how it was for my 3000gt it was a V6 but I imagine it's the same for most engines.

these motors have passages casted into the block and a pipe on the outside under the exhaust manifold.

Ah I see, yikes... so there would be more to it then, as far as removing parts and replacing them. That makes sense because of the coolant return lines to the turbo. Still learning :thumb:

You're going to have to look for yourself and see where it's coming out. There's no part in either of those videos that accurately show the leak. The water pipe under the manifold has an o-ring where it fits into the back of the water pump, you have a ton of little hoses there (including the ones to your oil cooler), there's the head gasket, there's three expansion plugs on the front of the block, there's the water pump, the water pump gasket, there's the oil cooler itself, and there's always a chance there's a tiny stream of coolant squirting out of the radiator and hitting the front of the engine.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you need to have waaaay better video quality and camera angles, or just man up and look at it with your own two eyes.

I have not check where the leak is coming from yet(oil filter housing side), just a little busy... I might try to work on it this friday. so far Ive been driving the car everyday and no overheating issues, I just needed to fill up the radiator about 8oz of fluid each day.

you could try the dye and a blacklight... it would pin point where its coming from... i believe walmart sells the stuff

You need a coolant pressure tester. This will help find the problem immediately. Perhaps Autozone has one to try, but I doubt it. Most places will pressure check a car for free.

I had a coolant leak that was a bugger to find. It turned out to be the water pipe o-ring where the water pipe goes into the block. I found this by using a pump type pressure tester. I found mine on ebay on the cheap.

With a pressure tester, you dont need to have hot coolant running down your arm, to find the leak. (a great bonus!)

I've been having the same leak its comin from between the oil filter and block hope to check it out today
