I have a fully built 95 RS with turbo kit and all the works. I cleaned under the hood the other day and now the car wont run. I cleaned under there 3 days ago and the day I did it shut off and sputtered. I worked on it all that day and no luck. It had some water in the connection for the coil pack but I got it out and used some wd 40. Now when the car starts it will start and run fine. once the car warms up and it get to operating temp the car will start to missfire and idle real rough and eventually shut off. Up until that point it runs perfect. I have checked all the wiring I can and did what was needed. I even took the harness for the ECu and checked that. Its goign on teh 4th day now of not havign myc ar. Does anyone have any ideas what I can look at to get this thing running again. This is my 1st 420a so help me out. Ive owned 3 4g63's. Thanks for any help!!

I highly doubt that is the problem. It was fine all the time and just started after bing cleaned in teh engine bay. i checked all teh injector harness and put wd 40 in them if needed. I checked all the harness I can see but nothing has worked yet. As of now my next guess is going to be a crank or cam angle sensor. Please keep the thougth coming. Thanks

cam angle sensor. exact same thing happened to me, when i was cleaning my buddies 1st gen

Wouldnt it throw a Check Engine Light? Also can it be my crank sensor? And where is the crank sensor at on teh Non Turbo?

From a cold start, the car will start right up and run fine. I can rev the car throughout the rpms. As it warms up I can only rev it up to a certain rpm. For Example: I will rev it to 4500 after warming up for 5 minutes and it will start to sputter and wont let me rev above 4500. But anything under 4500 it will rev smooth. After a few more minutes it will only allow me to rev to 3500 and anything under 3500 is smooth. This will happen over and over until the car gets to where I cant rev it anywhere above idle and then eventually will shut off.

Check the Alternator. had exactly the same thing happen.(cleaning and everything) The battery voltage and current start and run the car fine, then as the fuel pump drains it, the performace sdegrades right in front of youe eyes. Try turning on the light when it starts messing up. If it is the alternator, it will suddenly get worse as the battey drain has suddenly increased.

I gave that a try but that wasnt it. Thanks for the input. Does anyone else knwo what I can look into? Thanks

did u pressure wash ure car with pressured water spray or sumthing ???
if you did that is what made ure motor unable to function correctly

water could of gotten to some key components and shorted it out like the coils in the alternator which is in key with the battery
that is what was told to me when i wanted to do the samething its better to do everything by hand

try taking it to a near by auto zone or parts store that will test the altenator and battery
to see if there bad or not

I cant drive it anywhere like that. It will be warmed up by the time I get there and then it wont run properly. Therfore it will hafta sit there until the next day when it is cooled off. Yea it was pressurized water from a car wash but It wasnt directly on the motor it was under the hood and around the outsides. Can anyone tell em exactly where the crank sensor is? Its the last thing I can think of that is wrong with it. I knwo it aroudn teh oil filter somewhere but can sum1 tell me in detail. Thanks!
