Okay guys i have a question there this dude selling a 1990 eclipse gsx. Car seems to be in pretty nice shape (through picture view) problem is he doesnt have a catalytic converter so its gonna be a problem with smog. Is there a way for me to get this car to pass smog? here is the link to his car specs. tell me what you think

1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse Gsx

Thanks

I'm in Cali also and that car will not even pass the visual or the sniffer. Your going to have to find and install all the stock components. It's too bad your not at norcal. I might know somebody that might be able to help.

tell me about it man cali is strict man every thing is illegal here its starting to get to my nerves was thinking of moving to arizona and live there haha. Do you guys recommend me keeping my 97 gst (car is in great shape engine wise is good pull hard- stock) or should I just sell it and get an awd.

AWD = Launch -stop to stop- but bad thing is if your tranny is screwed you are screwed too. LOL
FWD = highway pull - that is basically it - LOL

If you don't know someone that lives in a non test area, where you could register your car, and don't feel like dishing out the 200 bucks for a new cat converter, you could sell it and grab an AWD.

But keep in mind that if you are getting a 2g AWD for what you sell your GST for, you're probably gonna have some problems with it. So I'd say stick with the GST and find a new cat converter. Those front wheel drives have potential, if you know how to drive it, and tune it properly.

Keep your GST as your DD. Find a stock 1G TSI or GSX then modify. At least you have a good base to start. Finding stock components can get expensive.

Your gonna need a stock intake and 1G MAS as well as a stock 1G bov and a cat just from what I can see.. CA sucks dude, I'm in the same process with my 98 GSX. Passed the sniffer just fine, just didn't pass visual because of my intake pipe, valve cover breather, blow off valve, no BCS, and no recirculation into the intake. I've been on the hunt for a stock BCS for almost a month now, and I need to get my uicp reflanged and I can use the bov from my 1G.

I was thinking of trading in my gst for his awd and asking him to probably add a few more $$$$ too. I dont know I really want an AWD probably reason is because i have never been in an awd before or i been reading too much threads on this forum all about AWD and launching i am just curious can a gst be fun too? if so i would rather keep my gst because its in great shape no leakage at all only leak i have is my valve cover gasket that is going to be fix tomorrow on monday. and another leak i have is from my radiator fluid bottom hose/tube crack so thats an easy fix too other than that car is running strong. tell me what you guys think about his car ( his car need to be smog this month) oh i have a friend who knows a guy that can pass smog for me but its gonna cost me 1bill. If i were to buy this car i am probably gonna buy an apexi n1 exhaust and find a stock cat conv. and flange it so i can swap it it/out. Tell me what you guys think tho because i am probably the dumbest person on this forum =[

The guy wanted to trade his gsx for my gst what do you guys think?

But an awd would be really fun right? launching it and all that =P

I am in such a huge ditch right now

Keep your GST... He is asking too much for his 1990 GSX. You can find a better deal. Check out the Norcal section, theres a guy selling a 1991 stock GSX but needs engine work. He's only asking $1200, its been for sale for some time now. I'm sure he's willing to negotiate a little. It might be worth the trip with a trailer. AWD launches and 4G63 is what sold me to DSM's. I used to be a FWD/turbo VTEC gear head. Like the saying said "If you cant beat em...Join em". You too can be a "V8 Killa"

aight i guess i just keep my gst should i lightly mod the car or just keep it stock and save the money for a gsx. I want to learn how to rebuild the engine so i might buy a cheap gsx and work on the engine while using my gst for a daily drive.
i guess this is what is meant to be a dsm'er workin on it on your own backyard =P
