Help Car Won't Start

Just did a 6bolt swap and went to start the car for the first time and the starter didn't engage on the fly wheel.

the starter did run but wasn't engaging.

I also went to put my foot on the clutch and it went to the floor with no presure at all and stay that way untill I pulled it off my self.

Please help

did you use the correct starter for a 6 bolt? Check the fluid for the clutch and bleed it. If it wont hold pressure it is probaly the clutch slave cylinder.

Is the clutch a stock one or aftermarket? Also when installing did you shim the pivot ball?

Well, if you haven't bled your clutch line that would explain why the clutch is sticking to the ground with no pressure behind it like the first poster said. But that wouldn't effect whether or not the starter engages the flywheel.

When i put my 6bolt in my 2g the same thing happened to me. The problem ended up being that I had used an AWD flywheel rather than a FWD. As it turns out the AWD flywheel is slightly smaller than the FWD, so i could crank that baby all day but the starter teeth would never engage. I just replaced the flywheel with the right one and that fixed it.

Before you do that though you may want to take the starter off the starter plate and see if the starter gear is extending and turning or if its just turning.

I got the clutch to work I did just need to be bleeded ( idiot me , long couple of days)

I think that it is that I ordered the wrong flywheel because Rossy told it to a tee.

Is there any solution to this problem besides droping the motor and getting a new flew wheel? some thing like using a AWD starter would that work?

You ought to be so lucky. If it has an awd flywheel, it has to come out. There's no other option. None. Install a fwd flywheel and you can use the starter as normal.

That sucks.

Does that mean I have to drop the hole motor or can I just drop the trany?

just the tranny man, you can let the engine in the car. You may need someone to put a 1/2 drive in the crank to hold it while you try to crack the flywheel bolts loose. First time i dropped my tranny it took forever. I'm to the point now where i can drop the tranny change the clutch and have it running in about 2 1/2 - 3 hours.

I'm assuming you don't need any pointers as you put the engine in the car. But just in case you do, www.vfaq.com will help you.

Hope you got this fixed . . . same thing happened to me when I did my 6-bolt swap. . . except it wasn't my fault- I told the ppl over-and-over "I have a FWD", but guess no one listened and I got the AWD flywheel

That goof-up set me back an entire week . . .
