Help-Car won't start after Seafoam

Hi,

Heres what happened

I was a seafoam virgin, and I just did it after reading about it and how great it was.
Just did it, and sucked about 1/3 of a can through the pvc valve.

Waited about 15 minutes and tried to start car, but it wont start

I took the spark plugs out, and am letting it "air dry"...
This good idea or bad?

Help please

1. Dont bump your threads, they will just get closed.
2. Yes you can "air dry" them, as moisture or saturation will foul out the plugs and you will have spark/ignition issues.

i too had a problem when starting my car after seafoam. what i actually had to do was put in the plugs that i had bought for after running the seafoam through it. After the new plugs and about a couple of minautes of crankin she started and i drove the hell out of her.

the seafoam How Too states to drive the car for a time after application. I have done it 2 times and drove til the white smoke stoped, and alittle more.

Never had a problem Minus any exhaust leaks around the engine and down alittle, will blow flames all over your engine bay !@@@@

My friend did this on his Honda and he needed new plugs and an o2 sensor shortly after. Anybody ever have any o2 issues after the sea foam?

I think the issue is poeple are shutting down the car before they fully burn all the seafoam Through.

RXP and STP Fuel System Cleaner also work well, but ive never done it through the PCV valve hose before.

(Not to the origional poster but the man above this)Where did you do it since you didnt use the pvc valve. I cant find anything on the N/T hoses and lines. The Pvc valve seems to be the only that goes to all cylinders. I only want to hear from N/t people. Unless you have had a N/T or do have one i dont want to hear from you. Not to be mean but people give wayyy to much wrong info or what they assume will work. Last time I went off a assuming post that they didnt say they assumed on I almost lost my engine.

BUTT YEHHH.....letteing it dry will corrode where it sits. Cause it takes what it cleans with it and if it sits on something dirty it will keep it dirty untill cleaned again. Also it could be you shut off your car before you got it all out also. I dont think 15 min is a good enough time to let the seafoam do its magic. Then again 1/3 isnt a lot to work through the engine.

I thought Seafoam was suppose to be 1/3 in tank, 1/3 poured into valve cover with oil, 1/3 poured into engine (pull off brake booster and pour it in there) thats just what I have heard and seen done. We waited till the 1/3 in the engine was all done then turned the car off, after all that we drove the car for probably 50 miles then changed the oil and filled the car back up with new gas.

Well i dont know if your post was meant as sarcastic or you really do want to know, but i use the small vaccuum line that runs to the top of the throttle body. Then again i do have a extra peice of vaccuum line too. That way i get my throttle body semi-clean and my intake. The RXP is mostly for the throttle body, but the STP works pretty well on both. Im trying different brands to see what they do, im gonna try the lucas brand next, ive never heard anybody complain about it. So did i answer your question eldi? And yes AWD_Launch you are correct, Seafoam is a multi-purpose cleaner, Marvel Mystery Oil isnt.

No it wasent supposed to be sarcastic man. Its hard to tell over the computer man. Well thanks for that info man does it work well at that vaccume line? Does it reach all the cylinders and give a good clean? Much needed info ill throw a rep point your way seeing that your the first person to give me a straight out answer and be cool about it at the same time. Much appreciated. If you could answer these questions for me too. How did it work. What one did you use( the spray one or the straight liquid one). did you suck up the whole can or save some for later. I have 200 miles till my next oil change should i do it now. It feels like 3 or my 4 cylinders are running will this probly help the clogged lifters or valves of where it seems to be the problem.

Use seafoam right before an oil change. You wouldn't want any seeping past your rings and destroying the viscosity of the oil.

Oh and is PCV for positive crank ventilation valve, not PVC thats a kind of plastic. Just trying to clear things up.

Be careful on what kind of intake cleaners you use....I was about to use Gumout, but just before I sprayed it in, I noticed on the back of the can it says "do not use on turbocharged vehicles"

so far as i've seen it works pretty well through the vaccum hose. if your doing it to clean your throttle body AND intake/cylinders you'll need most of the can, then pour the rest in your oil, do an oil change. if your doing it just to clean out some of the throttle body, you wont need but about 2/3 to 1/2 of the can (just depends on how clean you want it, and how dirty it is), pour 1/4 - 1/3 in your tank and oil, do an oil change. i try to clean mine at every other oil change . I replace the PCV valve every other oil change, and run fuel system cleaner/marvel mystery oil every other fill-up.




* Are you getting lifter tick? if so - i had it in mine and i tried Lucas Oil Stabalizer, doesnt tick any more. it doesnt fix the problem you get from clogged lifters, but it sticks to the lifters and keeps them lubricated enough to not tick (wear as badly). One more - do you run synthetic or mineral? synthetic stays cleaner longer and penitrates (<- spelling) better, mineral is thicker, and has less detergants in it so it gets dirty faster. the synthetic would help lubricate those parts without clogging them as easily (or as fast), but you would have to change your oil every 3,000 miles to keep 'em clean. the down side is that it leaks around old seals, and if your valve stems are worn you'll burn most of it off. if you dont have that many miles on your motor (between 5,000 and 40,000) you might wanna try it. just food for thought. *

I had a problem just last night. I had you seafoam in my gas tank about a month ago with no problem. Since I had an extra can I decided to do it again last night. I added the can as directed, 1 oz per gallon, and then drove about 30 miles. I shut my truck off (1997 Chevy 5.7 l engine) and did some shopping at Walmart. When I came out the truck wouldn't start. It would crank, fire once, and then die out. This happened 10 or 12 times before I gave up. I spent the night in the truck and this morning it started with no problem. Perhaps I had a vapor lock. I don't know, but the problem did go away after sitting overnight.
