i need to replace the timing belt on my 95 eclipse 2.0 non-turbo. i have to remove the left engine mount bracket but the bolts are long and hit the fender well. do i have to pull the motor out just to install a timing belt? please help.

No, you don't have to pull the motor, but you do have to remove the front and driver's side engine mounts... after that, jack the engine up or lower it as much as possible to remove the bolts. Also, be sure to support the engine under the oil pan with a wood board and a jack.

For first timers it's a complete PITA, but once you get the left and front motor mounts taken out and are able to raise/lower the engine, it's not too bad. Just takes a little bit of patience mixed with a little bit of frustration.

It's a bit of a rubic's cube, heh heh. I do these without undoing the mount so don't worry it'll happen. I sneak them out by leaving the 2 bolts inside of the housing and doing the tetras/rubic's cube thing ;) .

just jack up the engine until you have room for the bolts to come out. it is a big pain. you shouldnt have to worry about strecthing any wires or hoses. even though you do have to raise the motor pretty high. first time i did it i was scared something would break but didnt. the only thing that might come off is a vacuum hose on the back passenger side of the engine. it connects to a plastic tube that goes to the intake manifold. i think the vacuum hose itself goes to the canister in front of the car. so if your done and fire up the car and idles really high check that vacuum hose.
