so i was looking around i decided to buy the exhaust and i plan to go turbo. I'm going to piece it together and i as wondering should i buy parts for a turbo eclipse or a non turbo. And what size piping should i get.

Another question is i recently bought a exhaust manifold and was wondering am i going to have to buy another one or could i get that one ported.

and the town i live in doesnt have emission how can i my exhaust system without a catalytic converter . i dont want to weld anything

For the exhaust you can buy a GST cat-back. The AWD exhaust will not fit. 3" is perfect.

Was it a turbo manifold? Why would you have to port it? Confused what you're asking with this one.

For no cat, just use the exhaust, and install a straight pipe or test pipe in place of the cat. When I did myexhaust, I used the downpipe from a GST (of course have to cut and make some welds though) and then a GST cat-back. No cat, and 3" all the way from the turbo.

Ive tried the search on this website isn't all to good. but i will look on google before i post now.

And david-b no it was not a turbo manifold. It was something i bought off craigslist to replace the stock one. the stock one i had on it before was all corroded and had cracks all threw out it. Ibought it for fifty so when it is time to upgrade i guarantee i can get my money back .But what do i look for when buying a turbo manifold. all the turbo manifolds i have seen are for gst. Are they compatible. or do you have a website that sells turbo manifolds for a 420a.

thats looks like the one i bought hope this helps

^^ this is why this forum is so tense, just answer his damn question.... hes new here he'll get the hang of things pretty quick. He came here for a reason..:D

That is a header and not a manifold. Your gonna need a turbo manifold to bolt the turbo onto.
Things you will need/should do:
Oil pan with welded fitting for the oil return
safc, or fuel management system
injectors/ afpr depending
oil feed/return
restrictor(depending on the turbo)
fuel pump
air fuel gauge/boost gauge.
new throttle body(not sure about this one)
fmic, and pipes and couplers
new air intake to fit onto the coldside
turbo, and the correct turbo manifold
Time an patience
Maybe more things as you come along, hope this helps. You can piece one together youself for cheaper. Get everything and put it on! Good luck!

The turbo manifold bolts onto the head and onto the turbo flange. I understand that your new to the turbo world or the car world even so any question ill be willing to answer :p

im new to the tuner scene. first car was a 97 deville . loved the car but everything just went bad. new starter ,alternator ,water pump, water pump pulley . then a couple months later. bad head gasket . i did all the work on it but i didn't even want to attempt a head gasket on that. so i took it to a shop and the quoted me at around 2400. plus the gas mileage was horrible

i know what the manifold or header i have on now hooks up to just the turbo one looks really small compared to the one i have on now . so i had to ask

If you don't absolutely need it for your engine to perform properly, i.e. 300+HP, a 3" exhaust will be loud and annoying when compared to a clean 2.5" exhaust.

Here's my parts list Even if you can't post in the turbo section, you should search there. This is the 1st thread in that section. If Paul would get to approving my write-up, I have a full install with pics waiting to get stickied up, too. And the search function works quite well if you use the different tools. It's an advanced system, but it works flawlessly once you get the hang of it.

I'm really trying to give you constructive criticism here, so please don't take this as me being a douche. I think you need to do some more research on what all going turbo entails. It's going to make you bleed, sweat and cry......before you even install the parts! If you take your time and carefully choose parts that compliment each other, you will be much happier with the results. You'll also have learned a lot of information that you can pass on to others that remind you of yourself...:thumb: Come up with a power goal, then research what it will take to get there. I'm always open for PM discussions, too.

Nice write-up man, I think I've seen that pdf thrown around quite a bit. Just out of curiousity I was wondering why you only showed prices for an external wastegated setup. IMO (not a knowledgeable one I might add) an internal wastegate setup would be a less expensive to get a quality turbo like a evoIII 16g or even the 20g and price plus not having to worry about a visual smog inspection might be a better option for beginner. Just curious cause I know you are far more knowledgeable than I by your write-up alone.

It's because most of the manifolds made for the 420a are all externally wategated. IIRC, Hahn used to make a DSM flanged mani. but don't hold me to that. It could have been Treadstone... I don't know...thanks for the kind words by the way.:thumb:

I had the same problem with internal wastegates. I was looking for a TD05H-flanged 420a manifold, but I couldn't find one. Maybe you can use an TD05H-adapter to fit the MHI turbos on a 420a. But then you've to weld your own O2 housing I guess.

Do research on the safc for the 420a before you decide on that but mostly 420a crowd goes with the fmu and don't go past 8 psi but the rest is about right not a perfect list.. what I recommend which is what was reommended to me was research and research again
