Alright so soon im going to be selling my GS and getting a GST since i still cant find a nice GSX nearby. My price rance is basiacally $4000 and under, preferably an auto (dont ask why). So ive been looking and found this one, what do yous think?

*!*!* 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST *!*!*

Im looking for a clean GST/GSX with little to NO mods (engine wise) and this seems to be pretty good, it only needs an 02 sensor and some tires..no big deal.

Thanks again people :hellyeah:

It looks pretty clean on the outside. Just check for shaft play in the turbo, compression test and all that good stuff while your there of course. Be VERY particular to any sounds you hear while driving and you`ll be golden. I liked the auto in my dsm before i sold it, beacuse theres no lift for shifting and thus no loosing boost in between shifts - well thats MY reason i liked it so much. :D

First, I would make sure his rebuilt engine is legit and that the shop is reputable and the warranty is real. Then, check if everything is in good condition (looks clean but the picture is from far away and not very revealing ROFL ). As for the price, it seems a bit high, but if you're into all the A/V stuff he put in there (and it's installed cleanly and properly) I'd say go for it. Good luck and choose carefully! :thumb:

Too high for no mods. You could take him down easy. My guess is that he already has another car lined up, most likely a built honda he is trying to pick up for 4 to 5k.

You could scoop that car or any GST for $2k to $3k easy.

Im pretty interested in the electrical stuff hes got in it, except for the ps2 :p hahah but im even more interested in the stock motor, id like to do my own mods.
it seems pretty solid, its not that far from me either so ill probably just go check it out. hopefully i got a winner here

He probably also blew the old motor (so tells you how nice he drives :toobad: )... Definitely try to haggle that price down to at least 3500 if you can!

The 1st GST i listed...it needs an o2 sensor..is this crucial? or could this be something that i can let go for a while and fix later? what exactly is it needed for? if theres no o2 sensor, doesnt the CEL come on?

if its the precat sensor which is for Air/Fuel ratio then yes its pretty crucial. There should be a check engine light for that. If not then how does he know it needs one? They are very easy to install...just plug and play. Bosch makes them and you can get them at any auto parts store. You can drive with it bad but basically you are going to run extremely rich which will kill your gas mileage and engine performance. If its been running like that for long then your going to need to replace your spark plugs as well because they are probably fouled out from running so rich.

Maybe in ohio but if you check local listings car values change in different parts of the country.

If the car has a legit warranty on the engine than i would say its a pretty good deal. You may want to take the car to a local shop and have them do an inspection just to make sure the tranny and all other components are in good shape as well. They may find some reasons why the engine was replaced in the first place. I.E. poor maintenance, harsh driving, things like that.

Alright thats not too bad, ill try and find out as much as i can from the seller. Yeah alot of eclipses seen in Philadelphia's Craigslist and Jersey are pretty expensive for no reason.
The seller wants 4k firm with all the gadgets and whatnot, but he said hell take them out for a more negotiable price. Who needs a ps2 in theyre car anyway?? :p hahah

yeah LOL exactly, the way i see it is its just one more reason for somebody to break your window and steal stuff out of your car.
