Helicoil to deep?

I had two stripped threads on my valve cover but not the valve cover itself (the top of the head), so I put the recommended Helicoil pack in it and now I think the Helicoil is too deep because the bolts don't thread in...
So I'm wondering if I need a bigger bolt or do I some how remove the Helicoil.

Only way to remove a heli coil is to drill it out wit a bit just smaller then the coil. then id get a tapper and a bigger bolt.

Depend on how much lower yur talking about you could just go and buy a slightly longer bolt to make up the difference

All right, Thanks ill give the longer bolt a try before i start tapping or drilling.

You are a bit off base with this.... The easy and simple way to remove a heli-coil is use a pick and push the end into the hole and grab with needle nose pliers, it will spool right out.

Well there's always another way to do it but he said its really deep. i prefer a proper tapped bolt hole. less to deal with.

Just srew in another helicoil on top of the other one, if you do it right, itll work just fine. Ive done this on cam tower bolt holes my silly friend jacked on his Honda cause even though the bolt would grab with the one helicoil, I felt that since the OE threads were twice the length of one helicoil, I should restore the same number of threads of that bolt to go into. Or, in the case of valve cover bolts, use a longer bolt as those ss helicoil threads are still much stronger than the aluminum threads that were there, despite having less.

Thanks man. You all helped a lot. I did this it came right out no problems.then I just replaced it with another helicoil and boom threaded in just fine. Once again thanks.
