Heelp!!! Weird miss fired and idle!!!!

I just bought a 91 talon non turbo and it has a weird miss. I pulled the number four plug wire and it didn't change the way it ran so I replaced the plug after drying out the tube due to water was in it and the idle lopes between 1k and 2k and when I hit the gas it still miss fires the same and has no power like there is a dead cylinder.... Any suggestions?

I think you pretty much answered your own question, probably a dead cylinder. Also check your o2 sensor, that can cause a misfire.

Also check your ecu for blown/leaky caps. Could be the cause also seeing your a 1g.

He is a 2G, and is a N/T..

O ok, well that being the case I would still check a few things mentioned and do a compression test.

I am also having him check the timing belt. I figure, if it is new, then they most likely broke it, replaced it and then found the miss, so they sold it.

Yeah i accidentally posted from my old login idk how but yeah i dont have any sort of testing equipment. i dont think its a compression issue because it runs smooth till u hit the gas..at least until today when i started it its running the same as when i got it. so idk im gonna check the timing belt and see about a compression gauge and what do you mean the ECU caps? ive never heard of those.

Autozone or the like can rent it to ya. I wouldn't worry about the capacitors on the ECU just yet. If the compression comes back good, the rest can be checked.

I have a 91 Talon n/t and mine did the same thing. I checked almost everything i could, luckily had a ecu sitting around for it. Swapped and everything ran fine. So just do some tests and then if nothing works, try ## ecu.

found that cylinder 1 and 2 plug wires were swapped. swapped them and it runs fine now! thanks your ## help guys!
