Car shakes and weird idle

So I'm new in the forums and new to this site. I don't have much experience with dsm's but I'm hoping someone here might help me out. So to start off my car has been working fine I have a 91 gsx stock 116xxx miles on it. Last week I went to the store, the car was working fine. I was only there for about 30 min. When I came back and turned on my car, it gave me a weird idle and sounded funny. I drove home (3 min away) and on the ride home the car felt like it lost power and would shake when accelerating. It kept doing this for three days. It feels like something is stuck because today when I was going home same thing happened but it started working like usual half way home....can anyone help me out and maybe give me some solutions?

Sounds like one of the ignition coils failed. See if you are getting spark too all 4 cylinders when it happens.

Try this, with the car running, pull spark plug wires (from the plug) one at a time and listen for any change is how its running. If you pull wire and there is no change, or there is not spark jumping to the plug tube, then you have a problem with either the wire or the coil. Swap 2 of the wires and repeat, if it happens at the same cylinder swap the wires back, and swap coils. If it is an ignition system problem, then the problem should jump to another cylinder.

Mine has done this before when my plugs get fouled. It is from my car running too rich. If i stop and let it idle for a min it goes away for me.
