weird idle and ticking noise

I have been looking into idle sitatioon for a while and my dad owns shop we have looked all over and cant find out wat was wrong. this is the problem, my car was wrecked and i completely rebuilt everything that was damaged in terms of engine components, so after i started the car finally, it ran perfect no problems so after awhile the idle was way low like around 400-500ish but it wouldnt stall or turn off unless its cold in which case the engine does stall ( goes from 1500 for a while then goes down to 400 stutters then turns off) i have to keep on the gas to for a couple seconds to keep it on then it'll stay at 1200-1500 but then after it heats up it drops below 600rpms and stays there.....also ther is a really fast somewhat ticking noise and im wondering if crank walk is possibility? but i hear the sound near where the fuel rail is...so maybe injectors? sorry i wrote alot but any help would be appreciated!! thanks fellow DSM'er Juan :dsm:
 
First adjust the idle air screw and see if you can get the car to idle. The ticking is probably nothing maybe injectors or lifters neither one is a big deal. If you are looking at the throttle body the idle air screw is in the top facing the front of the car.
 
The noise is probably normal, our lifters and injectors can make some loud ticks and clicks.

As for the idle problems, I think you should check the ISC (idle control motor) motor, just check the vfaq on it, they are easy to check and can cause idle problems like you have when they go bad.

If you have a logger, it will show if it's working...

ok the isc motor is located under the throttle body right? cause i think i might have changed it or the FIAV but im not sure now cause i got confused...
 
Do an intake leak test. I was ticking because I had a leak @ my intake mani had to get it shaved down 30 thousandths to get it true. Could also cause a goofy idle. I disconnected a TB hose IIRC and just blew cigarette smoke in and I seen it coming out under my intake mani so it set me up for a few hours of work.

Yes, It has a few wires coming from it, and is much more likley to be your problem than the FAIV. Unplug it and see what happens.

i can exchange it from a 1G eclipse right??? it shouldnt be different right?? that way i can save my money... :D
 
ok sorry guys i was real busy and got caught out of time but i pulled the plug on it and it didnt do anything i work at auto zone so i can get a discount on it but is like 189 bucks....so any input would be appreciated :thumb:
