hey guys i have a problem with heat coming in from firewall when i drive the car for more them 10 min the heat from the engine bay heats up the cabin even with the windows down it gets really hot and my feel get really hot and ,, can you guys help me out what the problem mite be or something i can put on the fire wall to stop it .. no ac in car

I'm having same issue but assumed it was because the rubber insulator for the shift cables doesn't fit in the hole in fire wall because it's a auto to manual swap and the person that did the swap enlarged the hole so the heat from the exhaust comes through easily.

Or your cat could be getting extremely hot.

I remember also a write up being done about the 2gs actuator control wires coming loose at the connection points over time for the climate control and it not being able to open/close the floor vents fully. Someone had done a write up about fixing the problem on this forum somewhere.

I have the same issue, also an auto to 5sp swap. Didn't think about the insulator being the cause of it but makes sense as I don't have one. Would one from a true 5sp car fix this? I hate driving my car during the day because of this.

I have no insulating crap, and a catless 3'' exhaust and dont get hot at all.. One small hole where the shifter cables come though doesnt make sence to me why its getting way too hot.. Does your heater system work properly? Im thinking maybe your heater is kept on high blast on your feet or something along that line.

I have a original 5 spd 1g and I had heat coming thru the firewall until I put hood spacers in. It's a 1 inch slug of aluminum between the hinge and the hood to allow a place for hot air to escape. I got them on eBay for like $15. I had to drill mine out to fit cause I got cheap ones but it took me just a few minutes and a trip to the local hardware store for new longer bolts. Now the hot air goes out the popped up hood instead of thru the firewall onto me.

Here is an credible source for some good info:
