I know that a lot of you guys out there have done headliners, and even more are asking every day, so I thought I would post pics of mine that I just did.

First off this is my third attempt on headliner. The first a miserable failure, bad glue poor fabric. Second which I think i have pics posted in my gallery was a moderate success, but the glue failed and the fabric fell. This time I went nuts on glue.

THE KEY is glue: I used:
3M SUPER TRIM ADHESIVE p/n 08090

now the lable says:
Danger: Extremely flammable liquid and vapor. vapor may cause flash fire. contents under pressure. vapor harmful.

That sounded like my ticket. It was $15 at Carquest (kinda expensive for glue...)

This time around I used a black/grey tie-die Denim to match my CF interior.

I HIGHLY recommend this mod to any of you. ITS SO EASY!!! I called the local upolstry(sp?) and they wanted $150 to do this easy job.

If you guys don't like the fabric/color I will post pics of what the rest of the interior is doing and you will understand. It blends the carbon fiber/black, and stock grey really good.

Choose your fabric wisely, I went with denim cuz it hid any wrinkles...where my crushed black velvet did not.

TOTAL COST:

Fabric: $4.32
Glue: $15

TIME: Aprox: 1.5 hours to remove headliner, 1 hour to prep
I sprayed the headliner and fabric, waited couple minutes, and did this twice more. So about half hour to 45 min in glue time, about ten min to put fabric on headliner, and then let it sit overnight, with weight applied to headliner.
Install: 30 min

looks very nice, well done. i can see how that will match the stock grey and the carbon fiber. good choice.

are you talking about the $400 CF headliner? No way, it looks mad cool, but $400 could go a long way to a lot of other things on my car....

But yes, it was easy, and give it a try...even a newbie could do this....LOL

how did you dye the "trim" peices? like around the sunroof...?

I did the headliner in my N/T in Red felt, painted everything..... but the turbo changed all that. I was gonna change the headliner in my GST to black or gray, but I didnt know what to dye those peices with....

I think I used that same 3M spray on this one, and it fell apart when it got hot in the car.... most auto stores sell a glue/spray specifically for headliners, I think it was like $10.

heres a pic of what I did to my GS

Guess you have to copy and paste... geocities is stupid

your pics didn't post, but the glue u used for $10 was probably the same I used.

As for the plastic, its called:
Krylon Fusion

Works great on plastic

I might have to add 10 min on my work for the fact that I painted some plastics, even more or painted now....

I have set the car out in the sun, 90+ for 2 weeks now. Still no probs....

im gonna do my head liner soon but im not gonna cove it with cloth im going to move my 6x9's up into the head liner with custom built pods placed right behind the head rests in the seats so they dont obstruct my rear veiw mirror im moving my dome light behind my sunroof moving the sun roof switch down to the console and then im gonna glass the whole thing paint it high gloss black then airbrush some stars and shit on it maby a pic from hubble then put a couple coats of clear coat on it i figure this will occupy me for a while and keep me from spending any money so i can pay of my credit card bill of 4k

Yes through the hatch. You have to give it a slight bend but it comes out simple enough. Just remove all the Apiller plastics, the rear snap plastic piece, and you can pop the plastic around the seatbelt out. The trim around the moonroof just comes off, and the plastic cap on the moonroof switch requires a phillips.

Pull the old fabric off, I scrubbed all the old foam off with a wire wheel.

Spray glue and your on the go
