I recently bought an used Eclipse from the year 1992. It has a couple of problems and one of them is with the headlights mechanism. The mechanism brings them up from the hood, but they won't go back in (unless I screw them in from under the hood). I haven't yet received the Haynes repair manual I recently ordered, so I haven't been able to verify that the installation is correct.

Now I'm just asking that if this is some common problem and the solution is a new fuse or something like that. And if someone have had the same problem I'd love to hear the solution.

Thanks in advance.

There is a button on the left side of the instrument cluster above the foglight button that when depressed will make the popup lights popup without having to turn your lights on, prol so can clean them.

Make sure that the button is not currently on :dsm:

I've checked, and even re-checked the button to the left of the steering wheel, but it doesn't seem to have any effect on the popups, except that it brings them up when they are screwed down manually. I also verified that the switch is working correctly with a universal meter. I assume that the pop up and down actions are behind the same fuse, so a broken fuse can't be the problem. Is the popup relay a two-way relay? If it can't connect the down actions electrical circuit? Any pinout around for the relay? A pinout for the connector at the electric motor end would also help tracking the problem down. Just to check if it gets any power when popping the lights down.

I remember this happened to me once when my popup mechanism got stuck on my makeshift CAI and partially blew one of the fuses. I believe it was the 80A Alt, but not 100% sure (memory goes with age I'm afraid :( ).

I'd check all those fuses off the battery to make sure all are in order.

It will keep them up so they don't get frozen down by snow and ice.
Or, speedbrakes.
