I have had headers and cat-back on my 98 420a for a while now but now im curious.....there is a lil spout looking thing coming off the side of my downpipe with a cap on it....exactly what is that for? i recently saw a quick glance of someones 420a and they had something hooked to that spout and it ran up and split....one part went to the egr pressure sensor and the other went up to the valve cover and had a filter on the end. just curious of what it is now...cause i cant find the picture anymore

Its an old type or alternative type of pcv system, Because the exhaust creates a vac it can function as the suction for your crank blow-by gasses. Used to be used on older drag cars but not seen these days due to emissions

The 95's had a "pulsed secondary air injection system," which involved something like what you're describing. What you're seeing might be the manufacturer's attempt to create a "one size fits all" downpipe.

so basically thats nt something i would want to do to my 98 420a?

No don't worry about it. if its open i would suggest just plugging it then
