head unit and other things.

Hello everyone. The 91 TSi AWD im picking up soon has no head unit in it, not even a factory one. It looks like this where the head unit should be:

It looks weird, I don't think it should look like that.

Also, the ring around the ignition is missing. You know, the one that lights up. I know it's a small thing, but I want my car to be clean... How do I fix it?

Hey man, I dunno about that little light up ring, but i can help you out with the audio thing.

It looks like the car was broken into at one point. I had a 93 laser before and thats exactly what mine looks like after someone broke into and took my Alpine Anyway, You can find the trim parts at a junk yard there are two pieces i believe. As far as those wires, your going to need to ether soder it, or twist and tape. Its really not that hard you just match up the colors basicly. Looks like somebody was yanking REAL hard at it

Yeah I had my radio stolen out of mine at one point, I installed another with the ol' twist and tape Color didn't match up for mine I just used a tester to see what one was always on and what one was only on with the key.

There are also two metal brackets that screw into the front of the black trim inset of the opening, they have holes on the side that you screw the radio into, youll need to go foraging around a junkyard for em, look for your ignition bullseye while your at it.

If you have a problem getting the right wires sorted out for the new deck, go pick up a chiltons, Radio wiring diagram is on 12-36.

Thanks a lot, guys. I'll need to make a trip to the junkyard for some small things like that.

Also, I noticed one more small thing with this car: the key only works on the passenger side door. The owner said that the one on the driver's side is broken. Instead of spending money on a locksmith to fix it, I was thinking of just switching the driver's side keyhole with the passenger side keyhole. Will it work? The passenger shouldn't be getting in with a key, anyway.

About the ECU... It's a 90 GSX ECU in a 91 TSi AWD. I'm not sure if they tried to steal it or not. Where should the ECU sit? under the floor panel on the pass. side?

I have a stock head unit w/ graphic equalizer ready to sell, if u want it. It came out of my just totalled, going to the junkyard and didn't pull the motor 91 GSX, has all the connections and shit with it.

I don't see a reason why the lock wouldn't work. Usually the ECU Sits kind of straight up to where you see the front of it instead of the side like yours.
