Here's my problem: my car is running rich. The car starts, when it's not fouling out the spark plugs. I mean they're really wet with fuel. It wont hold idle. When it does start, it blows black smoke obviously because it's running rich. Naturally I thought it was a boost leak so I found one of the couplers had blown a hole, so I changed it out, put t clamps on, which solved the boost leak problem. It still won't hold idle and fouls spark plugs like no other. It won't hold idle unless I have my foot on the gas soon. As I let go it dies. Also, the car was sitting for a while. I know it has bad gas because I put 2 gallons of 93 in it and it starts a lot easier now, but still has problems. Could it be my iac. My car has a fmic, 16g, stock bov, and exhaust. Any ideas?

That bottom line there in red, take note. We are pretty picky about that on here. Just giving you a heads up before you get flamed. As for the problem you're having that could indeed be the ISC. Mine acted like that when it went out. Never ran that rich though. It just wouldn't hold a steady idle.

usually when iac goes bad you get a idle surge. His car is running super rich. venting to the atmosphere will cause a super rich conditions. a bad maf will cause rich conditions, and give you bad idle. Make sure the honeycombs didnt get messed up or come apart. This happened on my 97 gs-t. The car barley ran, and on the wideband it was super rich.

My bov is recirculated guess I should have said that in original post also the maf could be the cause ,ill try cleaning it and inspecting the plug.I've heard a bad iac could cause car stalling an also rich condition if bad, also what is honeycombs.

Do a test of your O2 sensor. They usually adapt to a rich condition when the fail. This is to ensure the motor will not run lean.

Thought the o2 sensor only takes affect when the car is warmed up?oh thats what honeycombs isi feel dumb LOL.What would bad honeycombs look like?

Well if the o2 sensor it bad then the wideband will not sure a correct reading. Make sure you don't have a leak before the o2, cause that will also give an incorrect reading.

Well the mechanic said there is no signal from the mas and map sensor weird. Also he says when the car fires up the radiator fans turn on, and when he unplugged the mas the fans turn off ,car was also a auto swapped to a 5speed any suggestions how to fix my car
