THIS MAY HAVE BEEN ANSWERED BEFORE I SEARCHED BUT STILL NEED SOMEONE REPITABLES OPINION FOR MY SITUATION THANKS

I have a 98 gst with 128000 miles had the car for about a year now after I bought I noticed the guy before me was running 15w-50 mobile 1 maybe to cover up the smoking issue. so a year later I narrowed the problems what it may be I upgraded to a 16G and and believe its just the valve seals. The car recently just started leaking oil rapidly which i was told may be the oil pump/front seal. So since the car is down I want to go ahead and fix the smoke problem too while im gettin the head gasket changed, the car still runs just with the oil leak.

1. Should I buy a rebuilt 7bolt head on ebay OR just take my head to a machine shop and change the valve seals and what will that cost? which is better pricewise?
2. What other parts may i need for my head i want to stay oem, and it ticks do i just get new lifters or dont worry about it cause it will do that regaurdless?
3. I want BC 272 cams installed, can I use an OEM headgasket or do I need something else for clearance wise?
4. I read somewhere that if I pull the oil pump off I should change the crank pulley too but mine looked perfectly fine is this a known prob for 4G63 and should I change it?
5. ### else do I need or is a good idea to do cause so far Im thinkin I need OEM HEADGASKET & TIMING BELT, other belts, gasket and seals, oil pump, APR head studs, BC CAMS. maybe water pump, crank pulley, FIX TICKING if neccesary
6. WHERE can I find these parts(websites, dealership)? such as gasket kits at a resonable price?

KEEP IN MIND I JUST WANT THE SMOKE AND OIL LEAK GONE AND NOT LOOKIN TO SPEND ALOT OF MONEY ON UNNECCESARY THINGS, WHAT WILL YOU SUGGEST THANKS

If your valve stem seals are definitely bad, you'll more than likely also need to get the valve guides replaced as well. This will require the use of a machine shop. Usually the exhaust valve guides go and then they take out the seals. If you just replace the seals, the new seals will go bad shortly after. You can disassemble the head yourself if you take it somewhere to get rebuilt to save a little money. The bronze-manganese guides that everyone sells are supposed to be better than the stock ones. I got mine from RRE, but I'm sure there are other places.

You'll want 3rd gen lifters to fix your ticking. You can get those on ebay for around $80. Just search for "DSM lash adjusters"

The crank pulley is good to replace if there's a lot of miles on it. The stock pulley is two pieces of metal bonded together with rubber. The rubber gets old and cranks and eventually the two pieces separate and you no longer have an alternator or water pump that turns. Could end up bad. Worst case is it eats up the timing belt cover and takes the timing belt out, too. It's piece of mind knowing you have a new one on there that's good for another 100k.

OEM headgasket should be fine for BC272s.

You'll also want new cam seals, valve cover gasket, intake and exhaust gaskets. You might as well go for the OEM metal headgasket if you're not already planning on it. Also, you might want new exhaust studs. I always replace mine everytime I remove the exhaust manifold to reduce the chances of breaking them. Also, I'd recommend OEM for the timing and balance shaft belts just in case.

Search through the vendors tab above to find places that have these parts. There are links to quite a few vendors and dealerships where you can get all these parts. Also, get a hold of the mitsu CAPs part lookup program if you can.

Hope this helps.
