Head rebuild help

I blew a piston a little while ago and I'm not sure what all I need to replace/can keep. I already bought new valves, and I'm thinking I should buy new valve guides too, but i'm not 100% sure if those would be damaged or fine. I don't want to buy something that isn't needed, since I'm only doing a stock rebuild, and tight on money. Thanks

valve guides are a pain to remove and install I believe.

My instructor told me just to leave mine in, it's usually the valve guide SEALS that fail, there little tiny circle looking things that are on the opposite side of were the valve seats.

You just have to take the valves out and look at the guides. If they are cracked you need to replace them.

The guides should also be measured for oval. Best to take the head to the machine shop and have them inspect it. You may or may not need to replace them, best to know for sure and then budget accordingly.

it is also worth it to just go ahead and replace the valve seals, they are cheap

If the valves were not hit like they had metal jammed up against them then the valve guides are probably OK. When I lost my timing belt I had to replace 12 valves and four valve guides. That's because the valves were bent.

Yeah I planned on replacing the seals. I think it the guides look like they need to be replaced I'll just have the machine shop put them in. Thanks guys, I guess there's not too much I can say until I get my old valves out.
