Head questions

Ive begun buying parts for my 6 bolt motor that will find its home in a galant. I bought a set of 2g pistons (.5mm bore), I have 1g big rods that arnt yet machined, and a balance shaft eliminator kit. Quick question before I start asking about the head, how can I tell if my front case is still good? I would like to save the money but being safe sounds better to me.

Now for head questions. With this motor I want to use a Evo III 16g, with all the supporting mods. Should I even bother with porting the head, or should the 1g head be sufficient? I would really like to get the HKS 264/272 cams but they are on such a back order. Are there any alternatives that are worth while or should I leave them stock for now?

With that turbo, forget even considering porting the head. Plenty of guys out there running fast with the 1G head.

Thats what I thought too.

I remember what I was going to ask. What should I do about the valves, springs, and retainers? Should I keep the valves stock or get SS 1mm over? I dont think I want a high reving engine since the turbo will probably fall off after 6.5K RPM.

All the stock stuff is fine for that turbo ... I'd change out the cams and that's it.
