I have all the head bolts lose so they move up and down when I wiggle them around but they don't come out all the way. What am I doing wrong here? I just need them bolts to come out and the head should be off.

it could be gunk on the threads and/or the head gasket mashed into the bolt hole. Do you hear a metallic clink when you pull up on the stud and it stops?

Are the cams still installed? If I remember correctly, you can't remove the bolts with the cams in place (a good reason to consider head studs). You should be able to pull the head if they're all completely loosened though.

If you can list the bolts up and down then you can remove the head. Just make sure all brackets and such are out of the way as you have less wiggle room with the bolts still in the head. The gasket is probably holding the bolts from coming out.

The cams are still installed but I really don't think you need to take them off to pull the head off. The bolts just turn and turn but will not come off. I could even lift the head off the block by pulling up the head but the bolts are holding it from coming off the block.

Yes, that's correct, you don't need to completely remove them to pull the head.

How aggressive are you being? Like Black Widow97 and Gs Dewd said, it could just be the head gasket or gunk holding them in place.

The bolts are are a pain to take off. I been turning each bolt like 100x now it looks like it's starting to come up but it got dark outside so I did not get to do much.

As long as you got all the other bolts (intake strap etc.), the head bolts are being held in by the headgasket. The headgasket is being held on by the head dowel pins. You should be able to pull her off with some force. The head bolts shouldn't be holding anything up.

I have to get this car back on the road in a month, I picked that head all the way off the block and the bolts are still stuck maybe I'm not using enough force. How much does the head weigh?

Its harder to remove the head with the cams still on the head. Ive done it but its harder to do by yourself.

I would recommend to remove the cams since you cannot bolt the head back with the cams on it. Its impossible.

As long as you are ABSOLUTELY SURE that the bolts are backed all the way out, then just use more force :idontknow: There should be nothing holding the head in place except the bolts getting caught on the headgasket.
