last night i was out doing the 1/4 mile and i got one of those awesome shifts, i left first @ 7K and second was short but ohh so sweet. unfortunatly i got a 16 second 1/4 mile.. but it still felt awesome.

patience young grasshopper, your time will come. when i first tried doing that, i would floor it and drop it really hard into second, it had to be horrible for the tranny. and i would occasionally get a squeek going into second. now i have complete controll over if i bark in second or not. may be because im a little more powerful, or cause im a better driver now, but i can get a big bark or no spin at all depending on how i shift. :cool:
 
Your in the same position as me Mikey. I try my hardest to bark them and all i get is this weak little chirp. Then my friend who is a complete dum as$ got in my car and barked the crap out of em the first try. It kinda pisses me off but isnt it better if you dont bark them when your racing and stuff? cuz all it is when u bark them is a loss of traction and doesnt that slow u down? :confused:
 
ya its a loss of traction,but it is so minute when youbark the tires that it doesn't make a noticeable difference in a race...now when i went to the track and shifted to 2nd all i did was spin my tires for about 5-6 feet, that made a difference in my 1/4 time and the fact that i had no traction in first until about 5k no matter where i launched at, buti was on street tires so thats partly the reason and the track is a piece
 
I have had one perfect 1-2 shift an i do know what you mean. My clutch slips pretty bad now so i can even began to try and do it again. But yea i just put the turbo on and i had my friend in the car and slammed it down the street when i hit second my friend broke my passenger seat and i was staring at the sky. I was speechless for about 2 minutes.

Our cars run 16.6 stock with a good driver.

I pulled 16.34 with intake and a muffler.

I usually shift at 6500rpms with the no lift to shift technique so if I miss the gear I'll have some room to rev.

does that accomplish anything significant? cause i dont do that and i get a hell of a jump when shifting

I dont lose as much rpm's between shifts, and I only do it between 1st and 2nd since between the other gears I'm already moving fast enough to not really matter.
