Ok so I replaced by hatch with another one because the old one was rusted out but it seems the one I replaced it with came from a gs/rs base model because the brake light is in a different spot and my high spoiler doesn't bolt up properly. I have the GST model, anyways I put my struts from my GST hatch to this one but now the trunk doesn't close. To me it looks like the shocks are too long they don't retract all the down there's still like a 3 inch gap left at the end of the strut.

Do the turbo models have longer struts than the non turbo models?

I think I bolted it up right not really that much work I know each strut has the left and right logo so I made sure I put it in the right spot don't really know what else I oukd have done wrong :/

You likely have to flip them around. Last time I replaced the struts I remember them bolting in both ways and will only work one way.

So what exactly do you mean by flip it around do you have a picture of yours

Unbolt them, put the left on the right and the right on the left. If that doesn't work, flip the actual shock 180 degrees. There's only so many ways they can go on.:thumb:

Exactly. But I remember there being 2 different ways it would go on, and there was only one way it would function.

I'll take a look at my car and see if I can get a better description for you.. Just going by memory, can't think of any more specifics.

Edit: I just looked at the trunk. On the L-bracket that anchors to the car there's 2 bolts on it facing inward toward the trunk. The strut goes on the outside closer to the rear fenders on both sides. There's an "L" stamped into the bracket on the left side and I'm assuming a corresponding R on the right. Hope this helps.

I would describe it as this, the bracket on each end has 2 bolt holes and the pivot point. If you mount it with the pivot point towards the front of the car, it will be like having a longer strut than if you mount it with the point towards the rear. I forget, but i think that they should be pivot towards the rear but I would nave to go and check.
