Hey,

I was thinking about getting a set of the Hastings brand piston rings, but I don't know if they are quality. Anyone know???? :talon:

I bought a set for my 1g 6 bolt motor. They have not been installed but they look to be of equal quality of the oem rings. I have talked to people about the rings before I bought them and several people suggested Hastings as a good quality part.

In my Datsun days, Hastings were the rings to use. However, this is the first mention I've heard of them in DSMland.
Also in Datsuns, balls-out builders used Deves rings, which were famous for being the only rings we'd seen that actually left a ridge in Japanese engine blocks.

Nice, so I will take that as good too! thanks!!! :talon:

i installed some hasting piston rings for my 1g turbo p/n 2C4613. i noticed that the 2nd ring did not have the bottom step groove as per the fsm for turbo pistons. i installed it anyhow...great 155-160 psi compression on all 4 cylinder.

but i think i had boost creep and blow piston #1 from the view after i took the head off.

now i'm currently rebuilding another motor with piston rings from partsdinosaur...p/n 021-6221 ITM. the 2nd ring did have the bottom step groove.

i had great results with OEM mitsu piston rings before. i just wanted to test the others.

good luck with your rings choices.
