Hardwiring a Knock Sensor

My knock sensor harness on the car side is a complete disaster. The moron who owned the car before me was a complete joke.

Theres two wires going from the knock sensor to the car's harness. Is it possible for me to hardwire one wire of the knock sensor to the ECU's pin for the knock sensor and ground the other one out on the engine bay somewhere? Will this work or would I just get a constant reading of zero no matter what?

Yes it works. That is how mine is ran. If you ground the wrong wire (which is kind of hard to do) it will read 9 counts of knock constantly. <Im like 90% sure
