ok my 2g is back to stock i bought it a few years ago from a kid who did some work to it and screwed everything up i rebuit the engine from the bottom up car runs great except it takes alot of cranking to get it started and it has cel p1105 (FPS) think he may have messed with the fuel pump the wiring is stock and so is the pump the nuts on the lines are rusted and hoses need to be twisted to up to unhook them i guess my question is if there is any damage to the orings on the pump or those lines could this cause both the starting issue and the cel any suggestions on where to start would be great

Sounds like a fuel issue for sure, i assume it's not a ignition, spark or gap issue as you would know that would be the case if your car misfires frequently but i don't think that's your situation. It could possibly be a clog in the fuel line somewhere, which would obviously make getting fuel to the injectors a task, or maybe even clogged injectors? Do you run any kind of tuning? SAFC, ECM, etc?

One little trick is to look at your tailpipe after the car finally turns over and starts.... if you see a plume of black smoke then that would mean your car is cranking rich and dumping to much fuel into the engine making it difficult to start. On the flip side, if you don't see any smoke then probably you are not getting enough in there and could be fuel starvation as the culprit. Don't get me wrong, your car shouldn't normally smoke when starting, but with all that cranking and no turning over there should be some excess fuel being burnt off. If that's not it there could be something completely different as the issue.

Ill take alook but i believe its just taking to long for fuel to get to the injectors like i said everything is back to stock think the kid i bought the car from had a 255HP in it without a AFPR then put the stock pump back in it may have damaged the lines or orings could that cause the extra cranking if the car is running then you turn it off and start it right away its fine but let it sit for more than a minute then crank crank crank and crank so more

Sounds like the check valve in the pump is not holding line pressure. Also, the fuel filter or the fuel pump sock might be clogged as well. The fuel pressure solenoid increases line pressure on start up to help with a lean start condition which seems to be your problem.

Fix the fps and see if the problem goes away first. Then its a process of elimination after that.

Thanks have a fps on its way and i changed the filter but havent gotten to the pump yet bc of the rusted ends on the lines ill have to replace them too i guess From havin the 255hp in it without the afpr can it damage the fps i dont know why he put that pump in the car was nowhere near 400hp or even 300 at that matter?

Just put new fps on today car seems to be starting easier and the cel is out ill have to drive it for a while to make sure but think that did it. Along with the code p1105 my scanner said the monitor for the evap system was NOT READY wont know till i drive it for a while but if anyone knows would that code cause that too?

p1105 is back again after i let the car sit overnight i went to start it and the samething so ill try the fuel pump and new hp lines

would anyone happen to know what size lines are on the car ant the size of the fittings Im talking about the ones that run from the pump to the begging of the steel lines

well put a new pump in reset the ecu drove it for a day and scanned it again the cel was not on but p1105 was back on this is driving me nuts i guess ill try new injectors and replace the fuel line if that doesnt do it im stumped if anyone one has anyother suggestions please HELP!
