I am having an issue with my 1998 talon tsi. The battery light and my handbrake light are on constantly. I have trolled these forums and the general consensus was that the alternator is failing. My alternator is fine, the charging system is working perfectly. I have gone at it with my multimeter and everything checks out just fine but these 2 lights will not go away. The battery is also brand new. There is damage to the wires up near the connector where it plugs into the alternator, so i assume the computer is reading that as a faulty alternator and sending me the telltale signs. I called up Mitsubishi today and they said yeah they had the new connectors for sale, but i had to buy the entire wiring harness, and they asked for a measly $1300 for it. The damage to the wire is so close to the connector i don't think i can repair it with some solder and heat shrinks. Does anyone know anywhere were i can get a new connector with some length of wire so i can just cut off the old one and solder on the new connector. If such things don't exist, i assume the only thing i can do is hit up the wreckers and hope some poor dude wrote off a talon. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
