I bougth a car with hahn super 16g and i have a big 16g laying around. Which would be better? The hahn boosts fine and doesn't smoke but im installing a front mount with a short route kit and the outlet is to the passenger side instead of down. So i'd have to get it cut/welded on downward.

Which FMIC kit are you going to use? If you switch to the b16g you would have to get another exhaust manifold as the collector flanges are not the same.

Oh ok. You would still need a j pipe that points to the drivers side to run the b16g with that kit. Between the 2 turbos i doubt you would really feel a BIG difference. Its a tradeoff between a little bit of spool (b16g) vs a little bit more top end flow (hahn). The adapter plates are known to leak all the time.

A Super 16G is a Small 16G with a different cover. A Big 16G is a Big 16G....so roughly 35 lb/min versus 38 lb/min.

I thought they also used a larger turbine housing? Something around 10cm^2 if I'm not mistaken, which would make it pretty laggy.

Correct, but I'm talking about the phyical wheel specs...not the turbine housing. You can put a DSM turbine housing on the Hahn Super 16G, by the way. ;)

Ah, makes sense.

OP- since you mentioned an adapter plate, I'd assume the 10cm^2 housing is being used. That Hahn 16g has more lag and less airflow than the Big 16g, so unless you have serious concerns about restricting the exhaust, swap it out for the Big 16g.

Right-on. The larger turbine housing will negate the +/- 400rpms of spool gained if comparing both turbos using the same turbine housing, so definitely go with the Big 16G in this situation.

I don't think the hrc 16g is that laggy at all, especially with a fwd dsm. I was seeing 37lb/min at 18-19psi with my setup on my eclipse. This was enough to run 12.4's @ around 112-113mph. The one thing I will ad is upgrade the wastgate to a holset acuator or else you will fight holding solid boost.

Yep you are correct.

I remember when I had the hahn Super 20g kit and it was laggy as hell. My friends 20g td06 was more streetable and balanced and used to rip me a new arse. I had so many problems with that garbage hahn setup with leaks by the adapters and O2 housing. I had to return it to hahn several times to be fixed or modified till I gave up on it and ,sold it and just went Garrett. I told hahn his kit was garbage and a waste of money and my time.

Go with the big 16g you wont regret it!

This is exactly what was happening in my case even worse on the 20g setup.

Truth spoken right here!
