Ok so I have a 1g GSX. From what I am told it has a GVR4 motor in it. I know its a swap, as the serial numbers do not match. In addition, I have the cylcone intake manifold which justifies the claims of a vr4 motor.
I was also told that the power steering pump was out which is why it was bypassed.
After inspecting the pump, and the rack/pinion, the pump seemed fine. However, the pulley for the power steering pump uses a v-belt style belt where as the alternator, ac, and crank pulley are all the flat style belts.
I began to think that maybe the reason it is like this is maybe the USDM 1g uses the V-belts and that the GVR4 motor uses the flat belts which is why it was bypassed in the first place.
However, when I bought a new alternator yesterday for the car (I bought it for a 1991 Eclipse GSX) the alternator also used the flat style belt.
Is it possible to remove the power steering pulley and just replace that as like I said the pump seems to be fine.
I've searched for aftermarket underdrive PWS pulleys but didn't find much that I would trust.
What are my options?
Don't say just don't run power steering, or swap for a manual rack. Thats not what I want.
