I have gone through all of the articles in here and I have yet to find this problem, so I figured I would post this up. I drive a Mitsubishi Galant VR4. We just installed an ACT 2100lb clutch and a new slave cylinder. Everything worked fine before this project with the exception of the stock clutch being fried.

Now, when I push the clutch in while the car is running, the car dies. If I start the car in gear it will start moving with the clutch on the floor. After I let out the clutch with the car in neutral it idles and runs fine. As soon as I push in the clutch it dies again.

Does this sound like I have a faulty slave cylinder? What are your thoughts?

Solution
ok problem solved. Tranny bolt was not comletly snug and was letting the tranny sag just enough to where the flywheel touched the tcase. After I tightend the bolt everything worked fine.
Sounds like your clutch is placing too much of a lateral load on the crank and dragging it into stall zone. Is the clutch adjusted properly? Have you checked the crank for lateral play?

-Did you resuface the flywheel with the correct step? is the shift fork in good shape? did you shim the pivot ball in the belt housing? RoadRaceEngineering.com has tip on adjusting the clutch.

Ok I looked at it some more today and either I am missing the nut off of the adjuster or, the gvr4 setup is diferant. Either way it looks as though the screw is not set right. I will try to get pictures of it tonight. A fellow dsmer also said that maybe b/c I have an act clutch I need a longer push rod for the slave cycl. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Here is everything that I have checks so far.

Master cycl
flywheel step
Slave cycl
clutch lines
clutch fork
shimed pivit ball in bell housing

clutch rod (pending)
clutch adjustment (pending)
