That is the Nate of DSMotorsports that had the yellow 1G with graphics and Weld Drag Wheels! 11.44@118 on the 14b!

Yeah, that's me. Although I thought the 10.0 @ 148 was more impressive (back in the day) than the 14b stuff. ;)

anyway, it's kind of odd to be back into Dsm's again after a few years removed from the mitsu cars after selling DSMotosport in 06.

Yeah, I remember that car, he sold it...

yeah, I sold that the spring of 2008 as a bare shell after it sat in the yard for about 2 years without any drivetrain. I just couldn't watch it go to waste any longer and at the time I had no ambition what so ever to build another dsm. Plus if I did want to get back into it, I knew it would be in a street car and not a gutted 1g.

This GVR4 is still streetcar enough to take my little boys to preschool, cruise around town, and still go make respectable passes at the track. Unfortunatly, it only took me 3 days at the track to hit rollbar speeds and I don't want to ruin the utility of 4dr car with a bar, so I may need to slow it down by introducing a new handicap. Maybe take the t3t4 off and go back to a 16g, and try to max that out.WTF

Hell yeah! I'm all about this idea Nate as you may have guessed. Yes, 10.0@148 was damn fast then, and still is now. But, you understand the mindset I come from. I'd love to see what your Galant would do on the 16g turbos.....I think they must be the funnest turbos to be out on the street with, unless your only thing is doing top-end pulls on the highway. Anyway, let us know what you decide to do!

Good job Nate. Drop in the Walbro 255 in the tank. You don't need the in-tank & in-line pump setup right now. You're not running out of fuel, you just have a bad pump. You can shed some weight (~120#s) by switching to the jdm front & rear bumpers.

I'v actually already done better than JDM bumpers: both USDM bumper supports are completely gone and replaced with little home made brackets.
Rear bumper support was 39.5lb of steel, 8lb of foam.
front support was already cut up from a prev owner doing a fmic, but what was left weighed 29.5lb. I'd guestimate maybe 10lb was cut out of it prior to me throwing it in the scrap pile.

Anyway, JDM bumpers save in the area of 90lb, but they cost about 800 a pair and I never see green ones. Ditching the steel cost me about $35 in metal stock at home depot.

I'm not 100% sure on what Im going to do with the car from here out. It's really in nice shape and I have a hard time keeping my head straight with respect to diverging paths.

Obviously as the car gets faster, it gets less reliable, less confortable, and less streetable. Right now, if I get a 10.9 out of it, then I have some decision to make:

Rollbar, seat, harness and keep cracking away at going faster (and spending money)? I love chasing a faster ET and trying to get every little bit out of a combination I can, that's my joy in dsms. Unfortunatly, once the car gets a rollbar, it's now useless to me for an everyday car since I need the back seats for my two boys (4 and 2)

or...slow it down by introducing a new handicap and keep it in the high 11's.

I could keep running it on pumpgas, go back to everyday street tires and try to whittle down the time from 11.9@120 with a goal of getting to say 11.5 again on street tires & pumpgas.

I could take off the t3t4 and go back to a little 16g and try to do the little hp/big efficiency thing like Phil again.

Honestly, as the car is right now, it's not that much fun on the street. The T3T4 has poor throttle response and it's just not "fast" in everyday driving. The car is becoming a bit too noisy inside. I'm so obsessed with weight, Id hate to take the coilovers off to make it softer. I'd have to make some serious consessions to performance in order to get back to having it a comfortable everday driver. so I'm kinda leaning to just having it be a friday night toy car, do the rollbar, and try to go deep into the 10's with it next year.

I hear you on all counts Nate. I suppose the potential route you want to take would be the one.....shoot for the 10's. What coilovers do you have , D2? That is one mod I'd like to do on my Galant for sure. Well, whatever you decide, I'm sure it will be cool. I will for sure stay with small turbos, probably EVO 3 16g at the most. When I had my EVO's , I never had any intention of removing the stock turbos on them. I loved the way they spooled. Well, good luck making a decision, for me the lag of the big turbos would drive me nuts on the street, but, they do get the heavier cars movin for sure.

Phil

Nate...LOL, OMG I remember when you were posting somewhere when you first kid was born. I guess its been a while since Ive been on here. Im just not getting the itch again to get me another DSM. Im talking with people local and may pick up another 2G this week. Good luck man, super fast GVR4.
