GT4 Downsides

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

1: Talon ESi vs. TSi and no 1G Plymouth Laser/Mistu Eclipse :talon: :dsm: :laser:

2: Z31 ('83 Nissan Fairlady Z) is a turbo but is pictured with no factory spoiler and 4 lug N/A wheels (thank goodness for the wheel shop) located in the Historic lot

3: How can Wheels only cost 500 CR while a "riced-out" wing costs 1200 CR?

4: Screen glitch :barf:

5: How to get the photos on my PC

6: Why doesn't the oil change guy lift the car all the way up so he doesn't need a damn creeper? :D

Other than that, all of the GT games have been excellent :thumb:

I cant do doughnuts anymore. I have all the aids off, I will be in a 350hp RuF, floor it, and turn and it will just smoke the tires while not doing a doughnut. Whats up with that?

Might be because of the rear engine (unless your talking about the 3400s). You need momentum to get a rear-engine rwd car to spin/drift. I assume you are talking about from a stand still. If you get the Ruf up to speed steer a little to one side then throw the steering the other way to full lock it will spin, then apply just enough throttle to keep the momentum of the rear engine to pull you around in circles. I bet when taking corners this car will have a tendency to understeer unless you shift the weight of the vehicle enough to move the rear engine around (like a pendalum).

EDIT: Off the subject on that but downsides to GT4 so far:

Are these all the exact same wheel designs from GT3? Looks like it.

Very Japanese biased game (which is understandable for obvious reasons).

Useless/undesirable model variations on too many Japanese cars (ex: Skylines)

Why didn't they bring back the racing modification upgrade (body kit, race decals, ect) from GT2 unless I have'nt got to it yet (I know it takes years to design these for each car but they had plenty of years)

Still I see no signs of a 1 gen RX-7  that was in GT2 (sorry put my passion for Rx-7s ceases to pass)

How about the original M3? Anyone seen this in the used lot yet?

If you must include SUV's how about the 455hp Porsche Cayenne Twin Turbo (oh yes only Ruf versions of Porsches are in this game :thumbdown )

I could right a book on car/model choice mistakes but i bet we all could (thank you GOD for letting them include one of my favs the ZR-1 vette, though)

Plus all the probs you guys stated above.

They dont have Ferraris!!! WTF? Ferrari is not good enough or something?

Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborgini gave exclusive rights to EA for the NFS series.

Thats the only game I can think of that those cars are in, and thats something EA would do. Stupid EA...
Ohh i see, i didnt know that.
But dont they have those "RUF" they looks pretty close to a Prosche, or is that like a Prosche knock off in germany?

RUF is a Porsche tuning company, kinda like Saleen for Mustangs.

If you'll notice in the game, the actual word "Porsche" is never used.

RUF website

personally, i hate that the computer racers take the good line and ram the crap out of you. that erks me too. the fact that i have to take my racing tires off of an 800hp car and slide all over the place sucks too. :(

OK i got it :thumb: thanks for clearing that up

1. the glitchy screen crap

2. rallying is hard

3. id like to be able to switch from a-spec to b-spec on the fly. Hitting start to pause the game to take a crap or something is a waste of time....switching to b-spec while your doing that would be schweet! :thumb:

4. no online play :thumbdown

5. no 1g's wtf

Ive seen a car list posted up including a 97 GSX.
is it actually in the game?I haven't seen one yet.

I jsut picked up GT4 today and im some-what disapointed :thumbdown . i try'd out the 69' camero or w\e and it sounds jsut liek all the cars from GT3? wtf??? they should gave it the real sounds the car makes like with straitpipes on to give it that nice V-8 sound or they shoulda stole some soudns from San andreas or soemthing... they had frickin liek 4 years the make it better and the only thing good it has is more cars and tracks...

Actually, this is a good one. I have yet to hear a V8 from the GT series actually sound like a V8. In fact, even many of the other cars sound wimpy. The Silvia i'm using right now, even with a racing exhaust sounds like a friggin' leaf blower on my tv.

It's a shame but the reason we're not going to see an AWD DSM in GT4 is the same reason were not going to get another AWD eclipse in the US: the EVO. But I agree that if there can be 20+ variants of the evo, skyline, etc. there's room for a GSX or TSi. But I guess there isn't a big DSM following in Japan.

you guys need to play Initial D ver. 3 in the arcade... its mainly based on drifting but i still think it beats the crap outta GT4. The tracks are 20x more interesting and intense, this is ok but like this thread points out, theres so many easy things they couldve fixed and made this game much better

Apples, meet opanges. ;)

I absolutely HATE how the computer does not get penalties in rally racing. On the final lap, of a LOOONG grand canyon race, I had the comptuer ram me into a wall, giving me a penalty. All of this happed about 50 yards from the finish line, and I got to watch the computer drive right across the line for the win. Bullshit. Absolute bullshit. :thumbdown

I checked the car list at the official GT4 site, and no other dsm's are listed other than the 'GT' eclipse and the esi Talon. I'm glad they had time to put those mercedes carriages and Jay Leno's $h!t box in the game over our beloved cars, and I do plan to write/ email these pricks about this. Maybe next time on Ps3, which is supposed to be an even better console. The game is still the best race sim for console, but my expectations were not met at all. I do like the new physics, but the other problems that have plagued this series haven't been fixed. The bad taste in my mouth is making it hard to sit down and play it as much as the first GT, which had me hooked the first time I played. :(

Yeah, a one off car and true classics have no place in the game, but they should have a 15 year old car that appeals to only on particular group of enthusiasts.

Let those "pricks" have it. x2

I dont know if anyone has posted it yet but you cant up the size of the rims i hate that. I also hate the auto save and i wish you could add body kits and all the wings are ugly. I just want to be able to change the appearance more to my style. Also some missions are hard as hell with out a wheel and pedal cause its hard to do part throttle and brake with out pedals. They also could of added some cooler cars instead of the ### historic cars I think they got some more work cut out for them. I agree that the 69 camaro was way to quiet didnt sound like a muscle car at all and no online play sux too. Im also into camaros alot why did they put the 88 iroc concept on there that thing is ugly they should of put a 91z instead.

You can use the analog stick, as you probably know. But I found it easier to do part brake or throttle using the analog stick versus the buttons. Pedals and a steering wheel would definately make it easier though.

Doh i totally forgot about using the analog stick for the brake and gas, but yes a wheel and pedals would be much better. I didnt even look at the directions i just started playing. I did like the fact you could transfer some money from GT3. Someone should send this thread to the makers so they know what the need to change.

Do u guys know how often the cars in the used lots cycle, not change but come back. I saw a Nissan Sileighty once (silvia s13 front end with 180sx rear which is the rear of the 240 hatchbackin the US). Anyways i have been checking like crazy in every used showrooms and she hasnt resurfaced yet. I was broke when i saw it thats why i didnt buy it.

Can anyone tell me why I can't race a nicely modded 350Z in the FR beginner races??? When I go to my garage and look at all FR cars, my 350Z isn't there!!! It isn't in any of the categories except "ALL". WTF??? The engine is in the front, the rear wheels drive the car, so what's the problem. Am I missing something? Big time glitch if you ask me

Will :talon:
