what needs to be don to convert my gst to awd?:hmm:

We had a member on our board awd swap a gst 2g. He had a donor car and did it in a weekend. I'm not saying its easy but it is alot easier on 2g then a 1g. You have to have some welding skills and a donor car with good drivetrain. O yea, you need money too.

Sell your current car and buy a gsx = save lost of money.

unless the car has sentimental value to you.

Sell your GST and buy a GSX, it will save you a lot of time and money;).....

I would say lots of time and money and probably hopes and dreams LOL, I would probably just buy a GSX

Sell your current car and buy a gsx....

:nono:
i bought all the stuff i needed for an AWD swap for under a grand... who's to say that its not worth it

and in the end of the day, i can tell you that i have more knowledge of my undercarrage than any of you ROFL..

yes a lot of work and money esp to from a coupe gst to gsx as from what i heard the frames are not as beefy as the gsx so you will have to put some reinforcement's in.... as to what i did buy a donor car gsx no motor for around 500-800 dollars get the tranny rebuilt then do the swap i have a spyder so its a little easier then the coupe since all the holes are there. good luck and keep us posted

That's okay, at least we know it's spelled undercarriage not undercarrage.. :tease:

Not saying an AWD swap isn't worth it.. By all means AWD > FWD.. But why swap a perfectly good GST to AWD if it's not a Spyder when you can just buy a GSX... :ohdamn:

Right :applause:.......

Anyways, the OP asked what was involved to convert to AWD, not tips on selling his car...

I say read the thread in Post #2 and look around for a donor car, you'd be suprised on how cheap you can find them ;)

I believe there's an ad in the classifieds where someone is selling the complete rear end of a 2g AWD, which is going to be the best to start with...

LOL :hellyeah:

Closed.

Had the OP searched before starting this thread, all of his questions would have been answered in these two threads:

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/276892-fwd-gst-swap-awd-gsx-basic-merged-2-07-a.html

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/dri...p-guys-enter-here-advanced-merged-2-07-a.html

I find it funny that the guys that have never done the swap say, "don't do it, it's too much work. Buy a GSX". And the guys that have done the swap say, "It was pretty cheap to do, not too difficult. I'd recommend it.".

Hmmm.... I wonder who to believe. :hmm:
